47% overall.  Blake 33% Stew 75% Pullen 25% Walker 50% Gilbert 100% on his only attempt.  Kent 0% on his only attempt.  This is remarkable.

It's remarkable that Frank hasn't chewed Kent's ass sufficiently to put a stop to his jacking up the three-ball.  In a game like the one yesterday that wasted possession could have been the difference between winning and losing.   :blank:

It was a risk, but one I'm sure they intended to take.  If he'd connected it would have been a tall white dagger into their dreams.

Let's review: Kent is shooting 11.1% on the season from 3-point land; lifetime he's sitting at 14.2%.  In what world is that ever the right shot in a close game?   :billypopcorn:

I was thinking that maybe if he was in there with Colon and 3 trainers but I think I'd want to see the trainers shoot around a bit before looking to Kent from the outside.   :blank:

He definitely fit better in Wooly's system, shot 100% from the field his FR year, iirc.

Out of three shots in the one game where we let the scrubs loose?  I want someone to check your facts or at least put it into perspective.  The system is not Kent's problem.  It's focus.  We need him only on the defensive end.  If he can get a fg in the pain it is a bonus.  Otherwise guard some people and quit fouling.

Kent sucks, but its true... http://www.kstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=3088&SPID=213&DB_OEM_ID=400&ATCLID=214137

I thought he was going to be decent after that year too...

The Kent comments in this thread just point out how dumb our fan base can be.  I remember lots of fans wondering why Wooly didn't use Kent more his FR year b/c he was such a "sharpshooter" from behind the arc.

He was a sharpshooter his freshman season: 1-1 or 100% from behind the arc.   :skillz: :dancin:

No comments in this thread said he was good. Just that he fit better in Wooly's system... it should say Wooly's team (b/c he wouldn't look like the JV kid suiting up for a varsity game on Wooly's team, because he prob fit in on that bench)

That would be where you get the dumb fan base.  But I didn't want to see him play, I thought he had potential to put on some weight and validate Wooly giving him a scholarship, and Huggs and FM too, they should have axed him to put another freshman on our roster IMO

So the clock is ticking down with the 'Cats in need of a trey.  At this point in the game every possession is critical and, if the team is going to win, they need to take the high percentage shot every time down the floor.  Why would you advocate having the 11% shooter jack up the 3?

I'm not saying we should design a play for him with the clock winding down.  But when you shoot one 3 every other game, it's sorta hard to have a high percentage.  He's proven this year that he can hit a shot with the game on the line though so if he takes an open 3 during the game, I am alright with that.  MUCH rather have him than Merrieweather shoot the open 3.

Merriewether is bright enough to realize that his jacking up the three ball is only going to hurt the team; apparently not so Kent.  I have no problem with Kent shooting: layups, dunks, tip-ins, etc., but there's no excuse at all for him to take a shot he's going to hit one time in ten.  He had his lightning-strike for the season (he's made 1 three each season) so it's clearly time for him to lay off.  He can jack up a few in the late minutes of blowout wins to get his one for the season next year.
