Would be running it had we lured Patterson.

OU is a shadow of itself since '03.  We pretty much killed their program.

They did win the Big XII this year. If that is killed...I'd like to be there.

But as far as BCS bowls are concerned, they haven't done crap since 2002.

I remember when Stoops seemed to win nearly every big game he was in.  Times have changed.

Brent Venables has been the only coach there since the beginning, I think.

What does that tell you?

And you guys thought I was kidding when I suggested a couple of weeks back that KSU would be running the 1-5-5 next year.

Who else runs a 3-3-5?  New Mexico?  Is that it in D1?  I think Akron might or might have at one point.

KSU should try that next year.  Then go to a 4-4 the following year.

I think we should try and sneak 2 extra defenders on each play and run a 6-4-3

I'd still take BV in a heartbeat...no buyouts needed, he'd just off himself if things went south (Ron, take hint).

Are you kidding?

His defenses over the last four BCS bowls have cost them the game.

There is a reason he's not going to be a coach.  I think a lot of it is that he's just not that good of a coach.

Stop and think about that for a minute...his defenses IN THE LAST 4 BCS BOWLS.....I cannot wait for the day that Tibs defense are good enough to suck in one BCS bowl, let alone 4.

I'm with catzacker.  I'd love to be bitching about how our highly regarded defense wasn't good enough in BCS games after winning several conference championships and playing in national championships.

I would agree with you if Stoops was our HC and Venables was on staff.

It seems to me the solution is to get Stoops for HC.  We'll probably need to blackmail him though.

IMO, BV is a better recruiter than anyone on our current staff (or previous staffs after he left under Bill).  I'd take him without Stoops being the HC, because if you're implying that OU's success is, in part, because Stoops has a hand in the defense, then you might as well blame Stoops for the defensive collapses in BCS games as well.

pretty obvious that Bob and Mike were the good ones.  I think bob is having motivational problems with his team (defense), and that's what separates OU from USC.

Also OU's offense needs work, not creative at all, they are much more talented than most teams they play against and can just line up and beat them.

Bottom line though, in big games that they lose since 03 their defense gets absolutely shredded.  Again that might be because they can just line up and beat down 90% of the teams they play even if a scheme is flawed.

I think this is also why mack brown often gets knocked for not being a "good coach".  That's another team with kind of a HS offense that just lines up and is better than 90% of the teams they play.  And again it is usually their defense that gets torched in games they lose.
