285K according to a credible news source and not some guys trying to spin yet another assistant jumping ship to a homer subscription base that will believe anything they are spoon fed.

Oh yeah, no mention of Franklin being named head coach designate or whatever anywhere either.

$285,000.  That's barely upper tier for an OC or DC at most upper tier BCS programs.  LOL.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/23/AR2007122302514.html

File this one right under Fitz's classic "Tim Floyd will be the next coach at K-State".

What a fracking debacle.

This is the kind of second-hand crap that Fitz and his crew consistently pass off as news.  Fitz hears a rumor around the barstool at Chance versus a statement from the &@#%ing AD at Maryland in the Washington-&@#%ing-Post....which shall we believe?

Ron and his minions will spin this as another case of a "good coach being given another good opportunity," and it is a god damn lie.  If you can't keep the best man in your wedding for three years, how the hell can you be expected to build anything?  Ron has exhausted his "connections."  Their aren't too many more Juco buddies and NFL minority internship peers to select from.

I really feel sorry for the next coach.  He'll have a brutal schedule for years, have zero HS talent, and a dismayed fanbase.

$285,000 is almost head coach salary at K-state,so technically RP isn't lying.

    THE b IS NOT CAPITALIZED
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

The story definitely sounded a lot better when he was supposedly making a head coach salary and taking over for Friedgen.

"Prince's assistants hate working for him" doesn't exactly make people feel better about losing the best QB recruit from Kansas in a long time.

You know?  Why let honest reporting get in the middle of placating your spoon fed subscription base and stuff.

$285,000 looks to be about $100,000 better than the ACC average - definitely a lot.  The fun part of the story, though, is the "head coach money" part.  What does that mean?  He's clearly not anywhere near the $1,019,281 ACC average.  And if it just means that he makes more than Frank Solich and a dozen other head coaches, then it's a pretty worthless statement because you could say essentially the same thing for many, many assistants accross the country.  The "head coach money" bit is just stupid.

Kevin Wilson makes $225,000 at OU.

Tennessee's OC makes $340,000.

Florida's makes $200,000.

Texas' makes $350,000.

Oklahoma State's makes $393,000.

LSU's makes $400,000.

Seriously, though, making $85k more than a national championship coordinator is pretty LOL.  Especially considering JF just went 5-7.

If Franklin was told he would be in line to be the next head coach, the raise he is getting isn't that important because the ultimate goal for any assistant is to become a head coach, where you'll make a ton more dough anyway.  It remains to be seen if that was part of the offer but if Franklin said they made him an offer he can't refuse, you'd think there would have to be more to it than 285k.
Show me defense.

It's only speculation that he's the heir apparent.

Plus all the OC is at Florida is someone to help Urban Meyer design an offense.   They don't run the whole show.

Explain to me how that will be significantly different for Franklin when Friedgen has been his own OC ever since he's been a HC.

$85k.

seriously.

Fridgen claims Franklin will run the offense on his own . . . it's also been claimed he's the heir apparent, and that KSU couldn't afford to keep him.

285,000 is a dang fine salary to be making as either  a DC or OC at the college level.  That is pretty high.  Especially for a program like Maryland.

for instance, Brent Venables makes $255,000/year and Chuck Long makes $220,000.  I would consider anyone coaching for OU to be in the top 10% of the nation in terms of salary.  So, he is already making more than 50 grand more than chuck long who has a NC ring and works for one of the best programs in the nation.

at florida dan mullen, their oc makes 200 grand and the dc's each got $70,000 raises last year and are now making $290,000 a year.  Shawn watson, OC at nebraska is making $220,000.

My guess is, your boy wasn't even making $200,000 at ksu and this new gig is a huge step up for him.  Even if he doesn't make it to the HC position, he is probaly making 80-90 grand a year more than in manhattan.  Plus, maryland isn't a sh*thole

Chuck Long is the head coach at SDSU, and makes $700,000....$50K less than Ronald.

As a comparison, MU's OC Dave Christensen earned a base salary of $197.2K for this past season.

UT's OC Greg Davis had a base salary of $351.4K for the 2007 season which was highest in the Big XII.

Geography wise, manhattan is located in the most beautiful part of the state.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Yes, yes, we all know how beautiful Lincoln and in fact of all of Cornhole country is.  Now go back to your Cornhole board where they are declaring yet another Return to Dominance.
