Balkcom and Crews were the two that played and I saw Stewart on the sideline.  I think those are the only three DT's we  have right now.

Is Vlad Faustin a DT?

He's the only D-lineman that played that is a Snyder recruit.

That DL is all Ron's boys.  That doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy about our ability to get quality DL.  We probably miss echols more than we realized.

It's ridiculous that there isn't a third year DL worth a crap (or a fourth or a fifth year).  I don't see how anyone can realistically fix that in two years.  I think Jackson and Manu are OK...they'd be great complements to people who had, you know, played college FB.

I think Jackson would be more effective with an interior lineman to his inside.  That effectively makes his pass rush one on one.  Same with Ian.  Maybe Abana becomes something.  He hasn't shown crap thus far.  Our LB's are just as terrible with little/no hope of anyone on the roster changing that.

You're right, but there's just no interior linemen to put there.

QFT.  It doesn't help that Moran was getting answers from a tutor.  But some of that blame for a lack of depth falls on Prince, even after only 2 years.    Balkom and Manu are depth, not starters.

I don't think Balkcom had any other offers, did he?  I don't know about Crews, but I don't remember if anyone offered him either.  Things were VERY bad on defense when Prince arrived, and I don't think he has been that successful in improving things very much.  He got Jackson and that's about it.  Getting one good lineman every 2 years won't work.  Prince was given a talentless defense roster but has not upgraded it, either.  there's blame everywhere.  I think we'll see what Prince is made of during this recruiting season.  If he has to take a bunch of kids just to fill up scholarships again, we are in trouble.  and so is he.

George was a DE.  I think Viers was, too.  (he was only like 250).

Still, that's incredible.

Two HS DT's and 1 HS DE that made it to campus in Snyder's last three years .  (I guess you could count Campbell.)

Pathetic.

Prince is at least trying to recruit high school linemen.  I'm sure he had a page in his binder that he showed Krause/Weiser that had this critical info.

I was going by their position listed in rivals.  I mean, Bedore was, for all purposes, a DT.  We haven't recruited well or enough DT's in about 5 years.  Not only that, but look at the DL guys we missed out on...Jonathon Lewis (I think he went to OSU) and that kid that went to CU (can't remember his name).  They suck too.  Our whole evaluation has pretty much been terrible.  It really just points to how great Bill's assistant's were in the 90's and how bad they were in the 00's.

It doesn't get any better at the linebacking spots, reggie walker and ross diehl are all Snyder has to show for his last 3 classes.

Also, we brought one player to Lincoln that had played a D1 game at DT before this season.

Houlik (Prince's recruit) isn't that great of a LB option either. He gets exposed every week.  Rholeder (Prince) will end up being another version Houlik.  Patterson (Prince recruit)...LOL....he doesn't even look like he's played football before, zero improvement from week one til now.  Roland (Prince) looks competent, but misses way too many tackles.    Childs (Snyder recruit) sucks something terrible as well.

The difference in KSU is that back in the day, at one point Leber was a back up....a starting NFL LB was a back up.

But, as a true sophomore, he's better than Reggie Walker is this year, IMO.  I think he would be capable with a redshirt year and a couple years as a backup.  Guys like Houlik probably shouldn't be starting until they're RS Juniors.  However, Snyder's unbelievably sh*tty front 7 recruiting from 2003 on doesn't give us that luxury.

Is Rholeder redshirting?

Rholeder played against OSU I believe.  Also, I thought he got in another game.  I actually saw him play in HS...exactly like Houlik, imo.  The problem with Houlik is that he is what he is.  His problems/limitations aren't mental or fundamental, they are physical and I'm not sure how much more he can mitigate His limitations just through another off season.  They've got him as an ILB for f*ck sake and Chase Daniel might be bigger than he is.  And I'm better than Reggie Walker right now.  Hopefully that Hall kid is legit.

I think he could be Buhl-as-RS sophomore-esque , if he were playing next to Ben Leber and Terry Pierce and behind Tank Reese.

I blame most of this on Snyder's staff but you have to admit....Prince hasn't done much to improve the defensive recruiting, either.  He is taking a lot of players with few, if any, other offers.  it looks rather bleak right now.  this recruiting season Prince must make a big jump.  he needs a sign of hope for everyone down the line.

I hope that's the case.  He has some problems playing inside and his pass drops are terrible, (although the pass drops could be fixed with more experience).  I kind of wanted him to move to Moore's spot, instead of being an ILB.  We really have no size for out ILB next year except that Hall kid (who I thought they were wanting to play as a OLB).

I'm serious when I say that I'd like to see a LB corp of Lamark (OLB) Hall (ILB) JUCO LB (ILB) Moore (OLB).
