Far from over.
I mean, you know Stoops is gone.
No way Jose...the Arizona Pres granted Stoops "one more year." Honestly, an announcement like that sounds like the recruiting kiss-o-death in my mind...but Broderick (read: His dad) seems to be listening.
Somebody needs to show B. Smith this link
http://coacheshotseat.com/CoachesHotSeatBlog.htmNew Arizona President moving athletics to WAC conference?
What a very interesting story out Tucson today as the new University of Arizona president, Robert Shelton, said that he recently had "a person-to person conversation," with Arizona head football coach Mike Stoops and Arizona AD "..to reassure them they were coming back." This "conversation" is reported to have taken place before the Washington game, when Arizona was 2-6. But, this story is leaked to the Tucson press after Arizona wins two games over Washington and UCLA? How so very curious. What is even more curious is that the Arizona president feels that a head football coach that has put up records of 3-8, 3-8, 6-6, and is heading towards 4-8 in 2007 with Oregon and at Arizona State left on the schedule, should be brought back for an additional season. That would add up to a 16-30 (.348) over 4 years, and if that is good enough for Arizona football fans and the president of the university, then Arizona football is dead. Maybe, if President Shelton can move quickly he can get Arizona into the WAC Conference before next season, because if you are going to call .348 acceptable then you have no business playing football in the Pac-10. Taking a look at President Shelton's resume, it is clear this guy has accomplished a lot in his career. No doubt, he can explain Einstein's Theory of Relativity and the very strange dark matter better than anyone at Coaches Hot Seat, but he seems to have a problem with 1st grade math. 16 wins and 30 losses may be good enough for New Mexico State or Slippery Rock, but in big-time college football .348 equals time to find a new head football coach. Luckily for Arizona fans, alumni, and boosters, they have found a president that knows and understands Arizona's place in the world, namely in the bottom of the Pac-10, or if you get that application filled-out today, the middle of the WAC.
