Johnson/Patton are great for when we are in a position that they don't HAVE to get a yard or two... But they don't have any size to them. We have been horrible in the RZ through Prince...

Having a RB with some size would at least make the defense think we might actually be running the ball on 4th and 1 on their 1... Beyond a QB sneak that is.

Just one of the many faults in Prince's start here that I see.

Is Jeremy Reed going to be anything? I thought so in HS but we haven't heard a lot about him this year.

Reed is just a true frosh so I wouldn't write him off and he's got some size to him.   There is a positive update on a very highly regarded high school back over on Rivals and folks have said we sit well with the back from Coffeyville but he's smaller back more in the mold of Patton.   Be  nice to land a quality back in this class but we certainly  have more pressing needs at other positions.

It would've been nice to score on that play, but just looking at probably the best measure of this is the ability to score/get first downs on 3rd and short (1-3 yards) or rushing on 4th down.

Overall (rushing and passing) we are 6th in the league at getting first downs/TDs on 3rd and short at 73.2%.  We are 7th when rushing the football at 68.8% on 16 attempts (lowest in the league).  And we are 4th in the league when passing the ball at 73.2% on 25 attempts (most in the league).

When it comes to rushing attempts to convert on 4th down, KSU is at 60%, but only on 5 attempts (2nd lowest in the league).

K-State isn't great in short yardage situations, but we aren't bad either and making improvements.  No surprise that we pass on 3rd and short more than anyone in the league with pretty solid success.

Just something to think about it regards to the "we need a big back" discussion.

The answer is Jeremy Reed.  Whether he has the speed AS WELL as the size is beyond me, but he looked pretty good in the little that I saw of him in the Missouri State game.  Why the hell Prince didn't redshirt him is even more beyond me, I guess Reed was in a hurry to not make the NFL.

    The "other" KSU
Adrian Peterson would have sucked with our O line. All that damned size and no nuts to go along with it.
