Take Micheal Bishop off the '97 and '98 team and replace him with Matt Miller.  How "good" of a team would KSU of had then?

Matt Miller was awesome.

I think Miller was a good QB, comparable to what I think Colt would be as a Senior, all I'm saying is that it usually takes special players to make be a "great" team.  Bishop was a special player, Miller was not.

K-State went 10-2 with Matt Miller under center, losing only to two top five teams including one that was arguably the greatest team in the history of college football, and did not look bad in either of those losses.  There were lots of special players on the 1997 and 1998 teams, and I think KSU would have won just as many games with Miller under center to tell you the truth.  It wasn't all just Bishop.

People don't seem to see a difference between a good game day coach, and a good all around coach.  They point to VY as the only reason that Mack won the national title, but isn't he at least partly responsible for VY to even be involved in the program?

If a coaches recruiting ability is good enough to win him a national title (like Mack did in 05), then who cares about his gameday coaching?

Do you think that Bob Stoops is a better coach than Mack Brown and why?

Yes, I think Bob Stoops is a better coach than Mack Brown and no explanation really should be needed.  But for starters, Stoops has won 4 big 12 championships to Brown's 2 and has a 6-2 record head to head with Brown.

I'm not here to argue that Brown is one of the legendary coaches or is even the best coach in the big 12, but he did coach a program to a national title.  And sorry, but saying "WHO CARES HE HAD VINCE!" shouldn't take anything away from what he and the program accomplished.

Brown only has one Big 12 championship.  He started coaching in 1998.  The 1996 championship was under Mackovic.  <sp?

    Anti-government
Vince didn't even win the heisman.

:flush:

Because they don't wait until the END of the season to give it out.  I think a large majority would agree that VY was the best player in the country in 2005, when all was done.  After all, he beat the unbeatable media darling of the century when they were in their prime.

2004 USC had a much better defense.  2005 USC had a lot of close calls

mack brown is a crapty coach...

good recruiter but a complete and bumbling idiot when it comes to game situations and playcalling.  he almost got outcoached by callahan, the only thing that saved him was the fact that he had more talent, aka charles.

wait, you judge coaches by "game situations and playcalling" ?

What is the system you use to measure this?
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.
