No pheasant in New York; only pidgeons.

I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !

I plan to have my limit well before the start of the game.  I've seen a lot of pheasants the past few weeks.  Was a very good year for them down here around Dodge.

I think a funny thing about this (and don't take offense because I am originally from around there) is that someone from Dodge City wouldn't know where Ness City was.

I fall in the "what's the difference between this and killing dogs" category.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

QFT  If I were up in Belleville this weekend, I'd be blasting the birds.  But I'd make sure I was home by 11 am at the latest.  Too bad I'm in the shathole that is Pittsburg.  The pheasant hunting sucks down here.   :crybaby:

. damn, i wish quail opened on the same day.

Wait, they've changed the quail season opening date?  Man, I'm not so sure I could be a good hunter.   I guess at least a person could come back and likely find them in the same place, supposing someone else hasn't already busted up the covey.

last year actually, evil mike hayden moved the pheasant opening up a weekend (1st weekend in nov) and left quail where it was (2nd weekend in nov).

you would think that with the quail, but last year we hunted my buddy's farm in clay co and busted up like 5 big covies and the next weekend when season was open, we only found 1 covey all weekend.

I can get up to Ness City in less than a hour.  There is absolutely no one on that stretch of 283.

Pheasant season is only an opening weekend thing for me.  Once goose season opens that is all I concentrate on.

Luckily I have several people that I give the extra goose meat to.  They must know how to cook it because they want more and more of it every year.
