Of course many of us will remember similar things during KSU games, like the Ben Crenshaw interview during the 1999 UT-KSU game.

    I'm with Coco.
I really really wish that just for one game, there would be no play by play. Just a simple dubbing of the stadium PA announcer saying the result of the play, hearing the marching band, the crowd- and above all, show the actual play and always an instant replay.

I think they tried that one time in the NFL a long time ago (< may be hallucinating this) and people hated it.

Your wish was granted in 1980.

"On December 20, 1980 NBC made history by broadcasting a game between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins with no announcers."

From what I remember about it being talked about in recent years it was suppposedly very weird.
"Kids used to hit him and stab him with pencils," says Harley Bennett, Jason's father. "Finally I told him he had to stick up for himself. Jason is not a violent person. One day he hit one of the kids back and got suspended."

Sometimes for games that are broadcast in 5.1 surround sound (I'm thinking HDNet hockey in particular, but it might work for CFB on ESPN or something), unplugging the front center channel took away the play-by-play, but left the ambient noise.  It's worth trying, but I think it'd have to be an HD broadcast to be in 5.1.

Come to think of it, it might have been when ABC had Monday Night Football.

I dont necassarily have an issue with play by play and announcers.  What annoys me is interviewing celebs during games, putting a mic on people like the CU coach's wife so we can hear her yap during a game, things like that.  Things like that have absolutely nothing to do with the game, yet they fill my tv with them.

That was by far my favorite part of the CU v. TTech game.

Mrs. Hawkins:  Playing LB America's leading tackler and leading heart-throb, Jordan Dizon

LMFAO  That was fantastic.  Prince probably doesn't even let his wife come to games (good move)
