It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

On 3rd and less than 3, we're 15-22 for 144 yards (6.5 ypa).

14-22 on first downs.

Why the f*ck would you want to run?

how many of those 3rd down runs were sacks (if any) or qb rushing when he wanted to pass?

the issue here is can we run the ball or not.

This is our deal.

To be fair, we don't really TRY to run the ball very often.  I hope we remember how when needed.

How many attempts were wasted by trying to have Freeman run the option for zero yards?  Those should be taken out as Prince is just doing that to keep the retarded 580am listener fans happy.

That is 9/16 on 3rd and less then 3 not 9/34.  Not great but not god awful either.  We're fifth in the league in yards per rush that is pretty good for no more emphasis then we put on the run game and for not having a QB who picks up yards on the ground.

We lead the league in scoring so whatever we are doing it seems to be putting points on the board.   I'm not sure that our 3rd down rush stats are really all that meaningful given the type of offense we run.  Hard to really find too much fault with the offense right now the problems lie on the defensive side.

our YPC is inflated because we run so little, and any big run we have really fats up our YPC. I'm sure if you take out the CU game our YPC is LOLable.

And 3rd and short is a big deal. You don't want to risk an interception on 3rd and 2 when you could have just gashed them for 4+ yards. (err...ku game)

Seems to me that we can run the ball when we need to.

Dropped passes hurt a lot more than one or two yard runs.

So you think they should hand the ball off on every third and short?  There is more to football than simply moving the chains.  A first down doesnt guarantee you points.  If its 3rd down and 1, 1.5 or 2, and the defense is stacking the box, why not throw the ball?  If your receiver breaks a tackle, he could be gone.  I have always hated the mentality of ok guys we need 2 yards, lets just go get 2 and come back.  Situations like that you often let the defense off the hook.  Take your best shot at them.  If running isnt your strength, then why try to run it into the teeth of the defense thats stacking the line?  I see absolutely no problem with throwing the ball on third and short. You worry about risking an interception?  Turnovers will happen yes, but trust your qb to make a good decision.  Its not always in the best interests of the team to take the conservative playcall.

I'm not talking about the play call. I'm talking about 34 yards on 16 carries. That's just bad.

Well look at more than just the stats themselves.  Stats can be decieving.  On third and short yardage, your not going to post a 5ypc average.  The situation just doesnt dictate that.  You are often running into the teeth of a stacked line.  How often do you see a team break off an 8 yard run on 3rd and inches?
