The Cyclones are 1-8 (0-5) with a win over Iowa and losses to Northern Iowa, at Nebraska, at Texas Tech, to Texas, to Oklahoma and at Missouri.

QB Bret Meyer has completed 62% of his passes so far in 2007 for 1,801 yards with 6 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He threw for 281 yards at Nebraska, had 3 touchdown passes at Toledo and threw 3 interceptions at Nebraska.

RB's Jamicah Bass and Jason Scales have rushed for a combined 796 yards (3.6 yards/carry) and 7 touchdowns. Bass had 134 yards rushing and two touchdowns at Toledo. Scales had 115 yards at Nebraska and also had 3 catches for 19 yards (6 yards/catch) at Nebraska.

Bass and Scales will run behind an offensive line that only has two guys (LG Reggie Stephens and RG Tom Schmeling) with starting experience. It is an offensive line that has allowed Meyer to be sacked 10 times in 9 games.

WR's R.J. Sumrall and Todd Blythe are Meyer's go to guys. Sumrall has 411 yards on 47 catches (9 yards/catch). His biggest game came against Northern Iowa where he had 71 yards on 7 catches (10 yards/catch). Blythe has 544 yards on 44 catches (12 yards/catch). His biggest game came at Texas Tech where he had 128 yards on 8 catches (16 yards/catch).

On defense the Cyclones need tons of help up front. Their defensive line only averages out to be about 6'2" 261 lbs per man. WLB Alvin Bowen lead the nation in tackles/game last season with 12.9 tackles/game. They do have play makers in the secondary in SS Caleb Berg and RCB Chris Singleton.

If we don't win by more than 7 count this as a loss.

matchup wise we are at an advantage at most postions. Most notably Jordy Nelson vs. whatever poor soul is forced to line up across from him.

If Kstate's defense can keep Iowa State out of any kind of offensive rythmn such as we saw from Okie Lite...Kstate will control the tempo. Turnovers must be limited!!! :curse:

I think their QB will be the best runner/scrambler we've seen to date...and that always seems to get us in trouble.  Unfortunately, a close game here wouldn't surprise me (close being 10 points or so)...but this is definately a game that should end with a "W".

No way this is close....
ISU is a disaster under the new regime....
Meyer and Blythe have hurt us in the past, but they are it.....
This will be a carbon copy of the 1995 pasting KSU gave ISU in Ames....
Minnesota and ISU were anxious to fire their coaches, both programs officially SUCK, change is not always the answer....

They do have a decent secondary but a lousy defensive line. That tells me we should be able to run the ball, correct?

He's saying they shouldn't have fired Dan McSomething.

After getting bloodied by Texas, ISU has been tough.  They played Missouri close throughout and threw a pick in the endzone in what couldve been a game tying touchdown in the 4th against OU.  If early season ISU shows up, we should beat them soundly.  If recent Iowa State shows up, it could be tough

As a runner Meyer isn't in the same league at the Robinson kid from OSU.  He has some mobility and can hurt you some if you let him break contain but he's not an exceptional runner.  They don't really use a QB run game with him at ISU never really have other then a wrinkler here and there.

Apparently injuries might cause the Cyclones to go with.....

RB Alexander Robinson who has rushed for 223 yards (5.1 yards/carry) and 1 touchdown. He has also caught 8 passes for 71 yards. Robinson had 149 yards rushing and one touchdown at Missouri. He also caught 3 passes for 30 yards.
