Rob Jackson was all the hype before the season...and thus far he hasn't really been a huge factor?

he gets double teamed every snap this year because we only have 3 down linemen.

The transition from playing a 5-tech (outside shoulder of a OT) or a 8 or 9 tech (head up or outside shoulder of a TE) to a 4 tech (head up on the OT or a half a gap over to either side) can be a tough one.  As circ said he's getting doubled almost every play where he rarely got doubled in the past, and if he did it was often with a back and TE, not a OT and TE or even OG and OT.  That's a tough switch and we shouldn't be surprised with some of our struggles up front.

He's showing that no matter how freakish the skills, you never know what will happen when you take a chance on a guy that only has played football for a handful of years and you should expect a slow transition to playing at this level.  Still, I think he can develop and will be a contributor next year.

It is incredible how absolutely terrible, our dline recruiting has been for a sustained period of time.  Think about how manycommitts we've lost since 03 or so. add that to flameouts and just plain busts.  Rob Jackson and Ian Cambell are by far the best dlinemen we've had (Echols too last year I guess) since 02 or 03.  it really is stupifying to think about.

nothing.  It's called being a 3-4 DE.  It's more about gap control than just rushing the passer as he did in the 4-3.  More concern for the (gulp) running game.

I would suspect he might get some more sacks in the coming weeks as we go from more ground oriented offensive attacks to more pass happy although most are short passing games.

I'm pretty sure he's at the big "three-way in the sky" with JFK and Marilyn Monroe....

they say that defensive line recruiting is the most competitive in all recruiting.  It separates the men from the boys.  KSU will not take the next step until they recruit these positions better.  So far Prince has not shown me enough ability in recruiting to feel confident that he can drastically improve this team from where they are now.  I'm concerned because I would think that we would have seen at least flashes of some defensive line recruiting prowess.  I still believe the team's improvement is going to take several years and may not be consistent, but more back and forth.  apparently, we don't have a killer recruiter on the defensive side of the ball.  I'd look at changing that.
