IMO, moreso with the JUCO players (which sucks because that's what we'll need, especially on the D-line).

So we've won every recruiting battle with ku up until now??

On Juco players??  Isn't ku in the midst of self imposed limit on recruiting Juco players, or did they dump that in lieu of the NCAA's more general scholarship restrictions, and additional sanctions against Women's tennis??

    The "other" KSU
is there any proof of this i.e. recruits changing their schools... or is this just your paranoid delusion? Prince is a pretty smart guy who will work every angle to get a recruit - he got Freeman to decommit from NU (where he was verbally committed to for 2 yrs) and commit to us in ONE evening. This was before he coached one snap of football at KSU. I know that we all are aware of this information and I am still the reigning Master of the Obvious - but perhaps you have become netharious and it slipped your mind. Prince wants a recruit bad enough - I give him about a 85-90% chance of landing him. These recruits will also look to see where Mangina's guys have landed in the league... not too many, boys. Remember Nick Reid? The last time I heard of him - I think he was on the Chefs' practice squad.

What are we preparing for?  Both schools suck about equally at recruiting.  It's been that way for a long time.

So what does ku have to offer?

A winning program on the rise?   Does a one year trend make that a good offer?

How about creating NFL talent?  Nope.. KSU has NFL talent now on the roster being developed.. what about ku's current record?

KSU is getting national attention with scheduling and the powers that be like it.   Do you want to play for a ku program that is more likely hit and miss than a KSU program that has established records even during our down period of player development?   Do you want to be seen on TV?

I don't think this is a hard question to answer.   Until I see us losing battles consistently, I'm not concerned.

Winning recruiting battles will hurt ku in the long run.  It will do more harm than good.

The reason I brought it up is because I have read a lot of updates that have named both schools, in the past that hasn't happened except for ks kids.  Odds are they will pick up more.

ku is a dirty program that lies, cheats, and bribes recruits to go there.  If we lose recruits to ku, THAT will be the reason.
Once you get past the ethics, the rest is easy.

We've heard ku mentioned with us time after time for years.  You must be new to following recruiting or just absent minded.  ku has recruited Texas hard for years and so have we.  Does the Courtney Herndon saga ring a bell?  The guy almost dumped us, after being committed for a long time, for ku.  After deliberation he decided to stick with KSU.  How about Ross Diehl?  ku was sending him letter up until signing day, despite an early committment to KSU.  Remember the whole Val Taylor drama and Mangina "pulling" his scholarhip offer after he decommitted?  Jonathan Lewis visited both as I remember.  Lamark Brown had an early ku offer.  Nate Prater visited both and was part of the Josh Bell and Chase Coffman trio who visited KSU, ku and Mizzou (all three out of staters).  Brock unruh had offers from both.  Zach Kendall visited both.  The first call Leon Patton got after Snyder retired was from Mangina.  Bryan Baldwin visited both...Brandon Walls mentioned both a number of times.

I don't think there was a single KS kid mentioned above and about all these guys chose us over ku.  But having said that we lost a fair share of battles against them at the same time...so you can basically double the list of ku vs. KSU recruiting battles of out of state kids.  Of course the first step is admitting that it went on long before this year.

    It's a nlellephant...
According to Rivals -

4 of Kansas' 9 commitments listed both K-State and ku.
5 of K-State's 13 commitments listed both K-State and ku.

Seems fairly even to this point.  For the record, all 4 of ku's commitments above are 3 stars.  2 of K-State's 5 committed players are 2 stars.

I think I mostly agree with the post above that said, recruiting by both schools has sucked as of late.

    The very best.
Outside of TE recruiting (which we don't really care about since we landed c-bass) we've destroyed ku in recruiting.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

He obviously did some research on this board and threw up a quality first post. By in large this youngster did a nice job.

ku's recruiting class is solid and will just keep getting better.  I know K-State fans don't understand the concept of recruiting high school offensive lineman above 2-stars, but ku's got two guys coming in that are 6'5 320 and 6'4 330 respectively.  Tanner Hawkinson and Tim Biere are both big TE's who can come in and contribute at ku right away.  Throw in Kale Pick, the #11 dual-threat QB in the country, along with Daymond Patterson, and ku's recruiting class this season has been a huge success.

A lot can happen between now and signing day '08.  And right now I'm liking k-state's recruiting class.

FWIW Tanner Hawkinson looks like he bangs his sister while fantasizing about sheep.

Yeah, and they're all Juco recruits.  Good luck with that.
