...do we go 9-3 in the regular season, 6-2 in conference?  I think there's a pretty good chance we win against Baylor and Nebraska if the offense had gotten to where it seems to be this season.

We're likely to wind up with the same record as last year with a better team.  Prince is -1 in the "how'd he do against the same coaches the second time around" thanks to the OSU loss, but he's got a good chance with Baylor and Nebraska coming up to get to +1.  Heck, maybe we can even beat Mizzou at home.  They do like late season collapses.

My main concern so far this season is the performance against the Fightin' Manginos.  But that's not too much of a long term concern to me, unless a) Mangino continues to schedule for a bye week before KSU, b) Texas, OU, and Tech all suck next year, and c) Mangino somehow again finds the Wooldridge Line, because all signs suggest that he's going to be gone by the end of next year, one way or another.

Just some random thoughts.  I guess the gist of it is that there's no doubt we're seeing progress.  There's also no doubt we've go a ways to go, but I feel better about the state of KSU football than I have since before the Fresno State game a couple of years ago.

Mangino gone by the end of the year?  Where's he going?  ku fan loves Mangino right now, they want to marry him.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

If Mangino has enough success over the next .5-1.5 years to be offered by a school where football is at least on par with basketball, he will be gone in a heartbeat.  ku may be building shiny new facilities, but football will always be second there, and Mangino knows it, and Mangino's ego needs more.

Or, with games at South Florida and against Texas, Tech, and OU next year, he may well have a 6-6 season.  I would guess that if he wins the North this year, then he may be able to survive that.  But if ku fades down the stretch this year and Mizzou or anyone else wins the North, and Mangino follows up with a 6-6 season, I think he's likely to be shown the door by Lew.  I don't think Lew's mind-set is to say, "Oh, okay Mark.  We'll just write off this 2 year cycle and expect big things once your crap schedule rolls back around."  Not 7 or 8 years into Mangino's reign, or however long it is.

Your original point was that he was gone at this end of this season.  I don't see anyway that happens.

Listening to Stan and KK on Friday afternoon while driving home I had the same question/thought.  I actually hope they don't.

Yeah, I don't really have a problem.  This year's is a little easier, but it could change at any given time.

An interesting interpretation of this:

They play at S. Florida and they exchange Baylor, Ok St., A&M for UT, OU, and Tech.  Plus Josh Freeman and Chase Daniel are back.  That's 6 very difficult games.  Combine that with the basketball school thing, the probation restrictions, the fact that the AD isn't his biggest supporter, and the rumblings before the season that he needed to win big this year or he was getting fired.  If he can get another job, he will get out while he can.
