Would you guys predict a Possible North title for this season?

I know I would definitely put us in the top 2 for the big 12 north.

That is the one thing that keeps me optimistic, lots of returning starters. Winning the north (no matter how crappy it is) would be unreal for Prince. You'd think recruiting would explode once he proves he can win.

Nebraska will win the north and Iowa State will come in second.

We will be lucky to finish ahead of ku.

I think we wil be even with ku this year. Maybe a slight edge.

That being said, it will be their superbowl come Nov. 18

We will lose to Nebraska, Iowa State and Missouri for sure. Nebraska has finally matured into their system and Callahan has done an excellent job of recruiting for that system. Iowa State has totally manhandled us the last couple of years, and they return all but one player on offense. They have only four returning starters on defense, but most have had a lot of playing time. Missouri is the best team they've had in years and they could possibly win the North as well with all their experience. Chase Daniel is a great QB and Chase Coffman will be All Big 12 this year. ku has an established system and Mangino has been recruiting better each year. I expect they'll be very competitive.

KSU has a new coach and a new system and players are still going to need time to adapt to it. You want to keep expectations realistic, then you should at least understand what we're up against. If we go to a bowl game, it will be lowest tier in the Big 12. Unless you have faith that Prince is a better coach than you've given him credit for, we might go to a bowl game, but we'll be extremely lucky to be in the Top 2 of the north.

Saying we'll lose to Missouri for sure is retarded. Missouri finds new and exciting ways to lose to us year in, year out, for almost a decade and a half.

ISU dominated us last year, not in 2004. We were up by 23-9 with 14 minutes to play and ISU had 220/230 yds at that point. We collapsed in the 4th, but it was hardly a dominant win for Isu.

Pinky and Mizzou have not exactly had Ksu's number either.

I love the "We've always beaten Mizzou, so we'll always beat Mizzou" argument.

That worked so well against the sqawks in 2004. And the clones that same year.

And the Huskers against us in 1998.

Mizzou will be better this year. And the game's in Columbia. Those who think we'll win just because Bishop whipped them back when Clinton was getting blow jobs in the Oval Office, or just because Pinkel's an idiot (even though his team finished ahead of us last year) are deluding themselves.

im not saying we will definately beat missouri but the argument that they will definately beat us is ludicrous because of the fact they havent beaten us in so long. we should go in with the attitude that we own these guys and need to make sure they know it and remember it every year. until they beat us i will assume its a win just like i still assume that when we play ku its a win.

ISU, ku, and MU are NOT teams that KSU should chalk up as "L's"...nor is Nebraska.

Missouri will be heavily favored because they have the talent to get it done. Playing in Columbia has never been easy, and with a new coach and system in place, it will depend greatly on what our kids soak in and implement.

Chase Daniels is a sharp QB and I expect that by the time we get to Columbia, a lot of people are going to be surprised.

Oh come on.. who said ku is a loss?

I said ISU, NU and MU are going to be tough games because each of those teams have many returners and matured systems. We have a new coach, remember? I expect Prince to get the kids ready to play, but let's be realistic. A new coach and new system always has transition issues. Maybe ours is unique because our kids were in a complex system and Prince has a much easier system, but it still requires some time to mature.

Marshall and Louisville will tell us a lot about our team. Right now, I'm not predicting a KSU victory over the other north teams until I see what we do in the OOC.

If Pinkel ever proves he can coach his way out of a wet paper bag, I'll get worried...that guy has grasped defeat from the hands of victory more times than Jim Wooldridge.

Again I say, a deaf mute soccer player should be able to coach KSU to 7-5 this year....

The man is a complete dumbass when compared with decent D-1 Head Coaches.

Listen, I'm not saying we're going to lose. It's rediculous, however, to simply assume we're going to win just because a completely different KSU team led by a coaching genius no longer directly associated with the program managed to own Mizzou for 12 years. We aren't what we used to be, and Mizzou IS getting better.

It's also rediculous to base Pinkel's coaching ability, or lack thereof, based solely on his accomplishments, or lack thereof, against ku and KSU. Which are the only games some of you take into account.

I don't agree with mjrod that any North team is a "for sure" loss. I won't even put Texas or Louisville in that category.

But I would put Mizzou in the <50% group. And all the 66-0/Pinkel's-an-idiot/12-in-a-row/Drunken-Mrs.Smith stories you can come up with doesn't mean squat for what may happen this year.

I was nearly banned from GP for suggesting that ku might beat KSU 2 years ago...so if you think I'm one of those that says it won't happen just because it hasn't happened in a while, you're inaccurate.

i think we have one win in the big 12 on the road the last 2 years so i dont think any road game is a W at all. that said i'm sure we'll go at least 1-1 @ ku/mu. losing both those games would be a disaster for prince.
