Someone must have talked to JJ & Patton and told them to stop running blindly into the middle of the pile. They really made an effort to bounce outside and make something happen. Sometimes I think its just a groove thing. Maybe if they get more carries they will find a rhythm.

I'm loving the play of Freeman, Carney, Houlik (needs to wrap up better) and Deon. You can't ask much more of Freeman in that game. Note: He was throwing some serious fastballs down the middle. The one to Lamark left a smoke trail.

Dog on him all you want, but McKinney is a hellofaplaya.

Why did it take Tibs so long to bring a safety up to help with the run? Did we study the OU game tape? These slow adjustments have me concerned.

Not an excuse. If we had brought that level of play (and playbook) to ku game, we win. I'm feeling the need to blame that loss on the coaching staff. They'll do better.

Can we please think about recruiting  a FB now!!!? You have to have more than one game plan, folks.

The Auburn game is looking more and more like a bad idea. IMO. Add a cupcake win and we're a top 15 team right now. ;)

Auburn loss after a well fought game = win over a cupcake in terms of national perception.

they overpursued all game, I'm sure the film showed them do that other times this year.  They also played their lb's pretty far of the los.  maybe I was just seeing things but they looked at least 5 yds off the LOS.

As long as Auburn keeps winning, it was a good loss.

Please note the sarcasm towards ku.

FYI.. The Auburn game is why the CU game was aired on national television. If we would have beat ku, then they would have aired the OSU game. I don't think it was such a bad idea..

in terms of rankings, there is zero reason for playing a tough OOC
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Until we're good enough to compete for National championships, There's no reason to be concerned about rankings as long as you're on national TV 3 times a year.  I'll eat my words when ku goes to a NC, this year.

Ummm...you are just now feeling that? Our staff was outsmarted all day. Mangino knows exactly what to expect with Prince. IT's eerie.

They said last night would be on tv after the texas game, so the ku game had nothing to do with it.

What?

Prince has said that the Auburn game was huge for us and ESPN. He said that since we played so well in the Auburn game ESPN decided to pick up the Colorado game. He said that if we would have beaten ku then the OSU would have been picked up as well. Take it fwiw but it came from Prince's mouth.

Auburn loss after a well fought game = win over a cupcake in terms of national perception.

Which is why KSU is ranked above ku.....?

What an idiotic comment.

Just plain delusion.

If ku were 5-1 after an early loss to Auburn, it would still be off the radar to most, and still a joke as it is to many now.  Make no mistake, Mangino learned Snyder's formula -- if he learned nothing else.

An early victory over Nebraska doesn't look so impressive now, either-- look at USC.  As history has demonstrated, it's not who you play, but HOW you play them.  Domination is ALWAYS a draw.

You guys are one of the lowest ranked undefeateds.

Ranking standpoint- Cupcake W>>>>>>Auburn game

Recruiting/Marketing standpoint - Au game>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cupcake W

Not even close. This why we will out recruit ku and in a year or two the talent gap may likely be back to what it was 4 or 5 years ago. Fran thought he could get away with that type of crap the last few years at aTm, but you can see where that's got them. Same will happen witht the Hawks the next few years.

Yeah...whatever you say...just so long as you continue to dominate us as you have been doing over the last few years ... and the series.  What is it now? 3-1 ku short term and 64-36-1 long term.  No offense, buddy, but, feel free to keep your football advice and wisdom to yourself.  We don't really want your type of leadership and dominance to catch hold at our Alma Mater.

BTW, nice shirt

Honestly, though, if ku ever had a year it is this one. Next year your sched isn't going to be fun. I'm sure you know it, but I refresh ya real quick...@ USF, 3 toughest south teams, @ Nubb, (ksu/mu/cu etc...will likely all be better). Probably will be able to squeak out a 6-6'er with three of those september puds.

Anyway my point is in the next 6 or 7 years we play Louisville, UCLAx2, Oregonx2, Miami(Fl)x2, Va Techx2, and Auburn @ home. All of those = national television audience likely ESPN. Which means $$$$, recruits, and tons of exposure. A lot easier sell than a fatass for a coach.

Here's to the future... :beerchug:

If CFB was a popularity contest, KSU would be far ahead of ku.  This helps recruiting.

This was a very good game offensively and an okay defensively.  Got a big special teams play which always helps.

I thought offensively the game was very well called and we took advantage of a CU defense which was much less disciplined than what we saw last week from ku.  CU also had a completely different plan in that they tried to change coverages and alignments often to confuse our offense.  ku pretty much just lined up and played.  We were able to get much more favorable match-ups, more single safety coverages, and obviously took advantage of CU's overpursuit with some reverses and screens.  We did a great job of exploiting CU's weaknesses.

Defensively we came in with a plan b/c I think we were concerned with CU's passing attack.  Once we got a lead and figured out that Hawkins probably wasn't going to beat us, we put in Watts essentually as another LB and cleaned up the middle.  This is still a concern for the future b/c obviously our DTs and especially our NT aren't doing a great job of keeping OL off of our ILBs.  CU's offensive scheme wasn't real complicated, basically inside and outside zone using a FB to kick out or lead.  They were able to create some major seems in the first half and we will see other teams try to do that in the future.  Fortunately we got it done on offense and forced CU to play from behind which they aren't real equiped to do right now.

Overall I was very pleased with how we responded from the ku game.  Now we'll get a chance to see hopefully more benefits from our early road tests going to what will be a very confident OSU team after they destroyed the Huskers.

Does anyone else feel we played alot more relaxed vs CU? I know as a fan, I was much more uptight during the ku game.
