In regards to "package deals"

mr. weiser cares about it. he cared about the previous staff and any "quid pro quo" arrangement they might have been considering. didn't want them making any "quid pro quo" arrangements with coaches and players. "quid pro quo" were mr. weiser's words. he thought coach elgas was a slickster and dishonest. gimme a break. ask mr. flores what he said to the previous staff about this. ask mr. weiser about his "quid pro quo" thinking in regards to the previous staff was and what he had mr. flores tell the coaches. he cared then. does he not care now?.........you're right kk, everyone does it. it is no big deal. but mr. weiser's stance on this, waffling from one staff to the other and chasing the other staff around for this type of thing and now all of a sudden it's ok, goes right to the heart of what kind of person he is. i don't think he is a stand up guy.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Well Weiser finally saw the light ... and lends perfect credence to the fact that he's also a complete asshole, who has overseen along with Jon Wefald a complete abortion of a men's athletic program the last two years.

It's easier to overlook something when it's your guy (hire) doing teh something.

Exactly.  It's very transparent.  It happens all the time and is just a part of life.  I guess that some administrators are better at hiding it than others, but they almost always want to have their own people.  Why not?  Their butts are on the line, after all.  Weiser may or may not be a good guy, but to indict him for this is to indict most administrators.

Where did that come from?

Weiser is about as trustworthy as a junk used car salesman.

Trustworthiness?  Where did that come from?  That's not the issue here.

Did they ever.  I never saw any strong, resounding public comments from Weiser or Wefald regarding their complete support of Snyder over the past two years.  At one point, Wefald even said something like, "well, you know me.  I like to win."  Wooly may have deserved to be canned, but their lack of public support for Snyder was not cool.  Given Snyder's disposition, it may have sufficient to push him away.

Maybe I should have said "honest".

He's an asshole, no matter how you cut it.  A bumpkin...but an asshole nonetheless.

coolhawks, the basketball team at your school and at ksu is a year round team and 90 days suspended from a program is a severe punishment. the suspension began when the drug test results came in, about 6 weeks ago. the suspension does coincide with school. thus, with the time this spring and the time at the begining of school in the fall, cartier should be back on the team around the time practice starts. he cannot use any ksu athletic facilities while he is suspended or participate in anything with the team or staff. he is just a regular student and he is on his own as far as workouts, conditioning, and everything else goes. the off season is huge for all programs and this is a very serious punishment. of course, if this had happened during the season, it would be much worse but cartier has to really step up on his own now or he will be far behind when official practice begins in the fall. a lot of discipline will be required by cartier and unfortunately, he is not showing a lot of it with this third failed drug test. it is his third and the 90 day suspension is mandatory with it. huggins did not suspend him. the third failed test did.

He's loved by 99% of KSU fans.

The guy has done some good things ... he's worlds better then that a$$clown Max Urick.

However, don't dress up your Bio after the 2003 season like you're the greatest AD ever, and then proceed to oversee 2 years of $hit afterwards.

I think on some fronts he's doing good things, clearly hiring Huggins was a coup.  But he is an asshole and will be a very intolerable asshole if KSU athletics continues to slide.

Why do people call Weiser an asshole?  He seemed very nice and personable when I met him.

Have you not heard what people have been saying about you?
Seriously, it's all rumor and public perception.  How many people here have actually met the dude and got to know him.
My guess is zero.

Public perception is he's a hardass that doesn't bleed purple since he came from CSU, people fail to realize that maybe that's a good thing.

The true test of his ability as AD will be how he fares in the post-Wefald era, which from what I've been hearing from the inside is that time may be here before next fall.

I will always hate wieser for pissing away KKSU radio.  Last year I drove 2/3 of the way across KS along the southern border on opening weekend of pheasant season and couldn't the KS/NU game on the radio...

Definitely.  Who knows what the next Prez's level of commitment to athletics will be.  At least we were able to sneak Huggins into the Wefald era.

If you're not in the stands or glued to the television for the KSU/NU game, I'm not going to feel sorry for you.

And I'm sure not going to bash the AD about it.

Facilities across the board are improving, and hiring Huggins is only a no-brainer for people who's butt isn't on the line for the hire.  Doing it as quickly as he did was also genius.  Do we land Colon if Weiser takes a few extra weeks to make the hire?
