What a fluke.  Notice that beating KSU was what finally propelled them into the rankings.  Not everyone will admit it, but I think we all know who has the superior team.

KSU is still getting votes despite losing to a less talented ku team.

I think you nailed this one out of the park chum.

yeah, usually when teams go 3-1 against a team in the last 4 years, including a blowout, it is a fluke.  you cant even hide your sour grapes, can you.  hey, do you think you guys will beat ku next year?

and i would take ku's talent on offense, except for jordy, and ku's talent on defense, except for cambell.

If our team did bring their D- game after losing to them last year, we are asshats.

The voters have spoken.

ku is 5-0, KSU is 3-2 and ku isn't really that far ahead in terms of rankings.

ku loses a game, KSU will more than likely leap ku.

ku brought it's "C-game" yesterday, and still managed to dominate K-State up and down the field.  ku has superior talent on both sides of the ball, better coaching, better playmakers, etc.  K-State was lucky to keep it within 6.

I felt sorry for all those K-State fans who thought their team had a chance.

Actually, ku executed their gameplan pretty well.  You can't expect to play KSU like you guys did your OOC.  Sure Fine dropped the pass, but they still got 3 out of it.  Hell we bounced one off the damn upright.

How do you dominate a team and not lead for more than half the game, and then let them stay within 6?

You said you dominated, so you obviously played your best football, while KSU clearly played its worse game of the season.

And the voters know it.  Otherwise, ku wouldn't be ranked so low.

I don't think that was ku's A game, but not sure it was the C- game either.  It too early to tell what type of game that was for ku, because we were the first real team they played.

As for us, that was definitely our Defense's C to D game.  As for the offense, afraid that might be our usual offensive game.

I do have to say, ku has the better offense,  but we have better defense and special teams.

    Hey, basketball!!!

Umm.....We were up 24-21 with seven to go, we both had three turnovers....and we had more penalties than you had.

You definately didn't bring your "C-" game. More like "B-", at the least. Especially after a bye week.

And I would rank our performance as a "C-".

Either way, you were the better team yesterday. You have a very good team hawks, and executed your game plan at an A.

ku dominated the line of scrimmage.  Bottom line.

The coaching staff knew that ku could score on K-State with no problem.  That's one of the reasons why they wanted to go for it on 4th and 1 to try to make the game out of reach.  It almost back-fired on us, but ku knew it could easily hang 30-40 points on K-State.

The team started the game rusty, which is to be expected when you haven't played for two weeks.  K-State took advantage and took control of the game early.  By the 2nd quarter, Reesing had settled down and ku was in cruise control.  To crack the top 25 at #20 shows that the voters were impressed by ku and that they were waiting for us to win against a decent team.

ku won the line of scrimmages I'll give you that.  That said I have a different definition of domination apparently then you do.  We threw the ball 49 times and ku got one sack that isn't domination.  ku averaged 4.4 yards per carry on the ground which was better then us and a winning effort but it's not dominating someone.

You want to talk domination look what MU did to NU last night.

"Hell we bounced one off the damn upright."

And we bounced one off our own helmet that gave you 7.  and we botched a pat, and we went for it instead of getting the 3. and we dropped 2 td passes.  and you got 3 on a bs roughing the passer penalty.  ku brought their c game, and still should have won by 20.

We can play this game all day (ie. bs holding call to take back a td, your INT off a tipped pass, our drive ending pass drops).

Since you're new to the sport, you apparently don't know this.

They also gift-wrapped the go-ahead touchdown for KSU.

I understand a fanbase's tendency to downplay their opponent after a loss, but for one to state that ku brought its "A-game" yesterday is just silly.

Exactly.  Both got an int deflection that lead to a short field and a TD.

One team could run the ball, the other couldn't.  The team that could run the ball, won.

schedule. ku earned their win legit Saturday...but I'm waiting for ku to get that "gem" win like Prince has been able to do against UT. Will ku beat someone in the Top 10 someday? Waiting.

No we didn't.  We played pretty well.

But, to me, "A-game" means that a team is essentially perfect in all areas.  You don't throw 3 picks, and play that kind of 1st quarter as a team, if you bring your A game.

Agreed. Our defense gave our offense chances but it was their offense that capitalized with points. We stalled over and over.

Pretty much ... except for the penalties.  I guess someone transplanted McKinney's brain into Alesana.  w/o his penalties and the donk off the upright we would have been up at least 13-16 points in the first quarter.  It was all ku after that.  We may have been able to hold on but I think ku would have done enough to win in the end anyway.  See their 1:30 TD drive in the 4th quarter.

can someone explain to me our defensive strategy yesterday?  ku was moving the ball at will on us the entire second half and the deepest guy we have is Watts 10 yards off the ball.  was it really crucial to stay in the 3-4 either?  couldn't tackle to save our lives.  not to mention Freeman couldn't take his eye off of one receiver per attempt.  he had Murphy deep, uncovered at least 5-6 times.  but i will give it up to ku, the holes their OL were making looked like the photos from the NU/USC game, their defensive front 4 dominated the LOS,  :blahblah:

KC Star grades:

ku:

Offense:  A-  (3.67)
Defense:  A  (4.00)
Special Teams:  D  (1.00)
Coaching:  A-  (3.67)

KSU:

Offense:  C-  (1.67)
Defense:  C-  (1.67)
Special Teams:  C  (2.00)
Coaching:  D (1.00)

ku average:  B (3.085)
KSU average:  D+/C- (1.585)

Thus, ku's B game is good for a 6-point win over KSU's D+ game.

Of  course, the Star is notorious for their pro-KSU/anti-ku bias.

ku isn't the better team because they beat K-State; yesterday's game was just a piece of evidence to support that assertion.  ku is the better team for a multitude of reasons, but the biggest is probably line play on both sides of the ball.  ku is just better in the trenches, and that's a hell of a place to start.
