please posts here, and tell your thoughts
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.
their hd coverage will be 2nd to none by end of year  ... http://directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageNR.jsp?assetId=3280008

i lived w/ a friend who had it.  went out maybe once or twice a year because of pouring rain.

and all the channels are digital from the source.  so you don't get crappy pictures like you do on cox for any channel below 100

I have dish & fsnhd channel 368.

Ditto...I almost switched to Cox when we started our internet service, but decided to hold off and keep Dish.  Happy with the service...HOWEVER, the 622 receiver has some bugs - there may be some conflict with our other receiver.  I'd recommend the 722.  Our 411 receiver is excellent (no DVR). It looks great on our 92" screen, especially HD.

Dish Network with the VIP 622 DVR Receiver.  It gets great reviews and the HD content it produces is pretty freaking solid.

Know this now... if you're going to go with Dish Network their HD is not as clear as Cox Cable in Manhattan.  HOWEVER, there's not that much difference in the quality and unless you're a videophile you probably won't notice the difference.  In comparison you're going to get right around 32 channels of HD vs something like 12 with Cox.

I've been with Dish for almost 3 months now and I won't be going back to Cox Cable unless I move to a house that is covered in trees and I can't get a signal.

I have directtv and have had for 10 years.   I have HD, and an HD DVR.   If you like football, it's the only choice.

The other great thing.  I laugh when cable talks about being out in storms.  Sure you get a fuzzy picture for awhile then it comes back on.   If it's a bad storm everybody with cable goes days without service even on songbird days, while DirectTV works great.

Precisely, and it just got infinitely better in the last week with a plethora of new HD channels here and more yet to come.

I can't wait to get our HD locals via satellite...and for them to add the rest of the HD channels.  Next step is being able to access any game that's being done in HD...in HD.  For instance, the game this weekend...I'll get it, but it won't be HD.

I haven't had a significant outage (more than a few minutes) in a long, long time.  Usually, it takes a tornadic storm.

I have the d-tv. However, at the time I got it didn't have a tv with HD capabilities. Now that I do, I want HD. Is there a way for a current subscriber to get an HD-dvr with out having to pay the $300 lease fee?

I got both our HD DVR and HD Receivers without having to pay for them.  It all depends on how long you've been with them, how many "extras" you subscribe to, etc....

Just call and ask...and don't give up until you get a deal you're happy with.

I've had Directv for almost a year now.  My signal was lost for a total of like five minutes during a really rough storm in April, I think.  I had my satellite through the entire month and a half of snow on the ground last year. Trees are another lame excuse.  Unless you live in a forest, I'm sure they can come up with a position for your satellite that won't have tree interference.

As of right now, I'm pretty sure I don't get the FSNHD, but I'll double check.  All I know is HD is the rule on a seven foot wide screen :D

I have Direct TV in KC and we have only recieved the FSN HD games occasionally (FSU @ CU was on ch. 98 earlier this year). This season and last season the guide will say HD for FSN Midwest but the game will not be in HD.   However, with the new sats and increased HD channels, some of the big regional sports networks now have an HD channel like YES (yankees) and NESN (Red Sox).  .  From the guide, it appears the ku game will be in HD on CSNC (Comcast Sports Net Chicago), the question is will CSNC air it in HD as they now have a both a SD CSNC and an HD CSNC.  More HD is the whole reason I switched to Direct TV but the FSN games have really pissed me off, hopefully that is a thing of past with the new sats.

Fatty, I do not believe there is a way to extract HD content from an MPEG 4 Direct TV DVR, you could at least capture in 16:9 with S video.

Just thought I'd add that DirecTV just added MTV in HD today...it's awesome.  Chili Peppers in concert right now.
