To me, a good indication of who your "rival" is can be defined as - "Not who you most enjoy beating, but who you least enjoy losing to."

For this reason, the collective mentality of the KSU fanbase going into the ku game is very different than what it was going into the UT game.  We fear the possible negative outcome of this upcoming game much more than we hopefully anticipated the positive outcome of the UT game.

Taking all of this into consideration, have the Texas wins bought Ron Prince enough job security to outweigh back to back losses to ku?  If the unthinkable takes place in our house on Saturday, will Ron Prince remain in the good graces of the fanbase and administration?

My feelings on this issue lead me to believe that this game (not either one of the  last two against Texas) is the biggest game Ron Prince has coached at KSU.

Too bad Ron Prince doesn't agree with you.   :flush:

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I do think beating ku should mean something.  However, basing a career soley on that factor seems exactly like what the Hawks have done with Mangino.  Outside MU and KSU, Mangino has 2 league wins over teams with .500 or better records; pedestrian NU and ISU teams in 05.  Even the MU and KSU teams he's beaten haven't been very good.  Beating ku and finishing 3-5 or even 4-4 in the league would be much worse IMO than losing to ku and finishing 5-3.  The ku game may be weighted more, but he's still got to be judged on the whole of his work here.

Bottom line is that if Prince viewed a ku win as > than a UT win, he wouldn't have spent two weeks scripting a perfect game last weekend vs. the Longhorns, and instead he would have focused on our non-rivals to the east.  That's not to say he didn't use some of our bye week thinking about ku, but to do what we did in Austin took focus.

Just another way of showing the team from Lawrence exactly how we feel about them.  (non-factors).

Some of our fans have tiny pee-pees and need the ku win to feel good about themselves at work, though.

Although, some of our fans have even tinier pee-pees and need to spend all day flaming on phog.net to feel good about themselves in general.
