J-Mart ranks the Big XII Coaches

1. Ron Prince, K-State. It can't be debated any longer -- the Prince can coach.

2. Dan Hawkins, Colorado. This is what they expected in Boulder, not 2-10 seasons.

3. Mike Leach, Texas Tech. Offense is explosive as ever, and now he's focused on the defense.

4. Gary Pinkel, Missouri. All the Tigers have done so far is win -- but they always start fast.

5. Mark Mangino, Kansas. Outscoring foes 214-23, but competition is questionable.

6. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma. Breaking in a freshman quarterback isn't easy -- even in Norman.

7. Bill Callahan, Nebraska. Huskers still haven't gotten over the hump.

8. Dennis Franchione, Texas A&M. E-mail mess was embarrassing, but Aggies remain a threat.

9. Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State. Sure, he's a man, but the Cowboys are up and down.

10. Gene Chizik, Iowa State. About what you'd expect, but beating Iowa was a bonus.

11. Guy Morriss, Baylor. A lame-duck coach in a lame situation.

12. Mack Brown, Texas. Yes, the Longhorns have talent -- but not much else, it seems.

I don't care how bad his team is playing, you can't put a national title winning coach last on the list.  I am sure some of you will say differently, but isn't the NT the ultimate goal and only two coaches in the Big 12 has accomplished that so........

Like I said, why does a weekly coach ranking matter other than the fact it just shows this guys isn't inventive enough to find anything else to write about?

If he is is the best on a weekly basis, in the long run he'll have done really well.

But he loses games based on horrible decisions.  He doesn't make adjustments when they need to be made pre or mid game.  He should not have put McCoy in vs. A&M last year.  He coached himself out of the south title.  If he'd said Hey Snead.  Go win us a game.  He would have.  But instead he put a broken Colt on the field and gave snead maybe 2:00 of game clock to try and pull it out after he got hurt twice as bad.  He'll do the same thing this weekend.  They'll lose either way, but Chiles should start.

That looks good other than I think at this point you could switch hawkins with prince.  OU is a much better team than tejas even when OU was on the road
