Prince contract

well, if we were ku, we'd wait until he's going into his fourth losing season of football and then double his salary and make him one of the highest paid coaches in the B12.  at this point Ron Prince would pretty much have to regress and forfeit any/all road wins, both Top 10's, and box/ship Freeman to Nebraska to earn an extension/raise.

ku should never be our equal.  They should be an afterthought, or as in Snyder's halcyon days; a glorified scrimmage that saves wear and tear on the scout team.  That is their rightful place in this conference.  Our position it to consistently be one of the two best teams in the north and be competitve with the souths finest.

Granted we are only four games in but if we keep playing like we are then Weiser should and probably will consider a pay increase. However if we do keep playing like we are I assume that some performance bonuses would kick in. For example finishing in top 3 in Big 12, bowl game, bowl game victory, power towel rotations per capita, would all be paid out to Ron.

People tell me Lloyd Carr will make the call on when he leaves Michigan. I don't dispute that. But I still think this is his final run.

Everyone assumes LSU's Les Miles would be the frontrunner. But don't be shocked if the Wolverines make a run at Cal's Jeff Tedford if the job goes outside the Michigan family. And Kansas State's Ron Prince could be a name to watch if he has a very good season.

For a man who's mantra is integrity, leaving for Michigan and the money would be a hard sell.  But I do think he could remain a man of principal and go back to Virginia.  Our saving grace might be that the Cavs will fire Groh and Prince might see it as a betrayal.

If he gets the recruits this year, (unlike Huggins) I see him staying for some time.

A successful coach is very desirable, but a successful black coach is irresistible. Every coaching search is heavily scrutinized for fairness, as it should be. And lets face it, it was very good for KSU to hire Ron Prince. Sad but true.

Not really.  Somebody, might've been 'hatter, compiled some numbers on 1st year D-I coaches and their subsequent records.  Seems like the average number of wins in year 1 was something like 3 but the killer trend was that improvement, if it's going to happen at all, almost always started in the first year or two.  Almost no one started slowly then turned it around 4-5-6 years down the line.  Even though Prince is only 17 games into his KSU tenure the direction in which the program is moving is already very apparent.

No, just on my opinion of what they migh accomplish this season.  I've never said Prince would fail miserably at KSU nor have I said he couldn't hope to get it done, I just didn't expect a great season this time out given the turmoil the program experienced in the off season.
