These are sloppy; but I know the technique they use.  If I had spent more than 30 minutes on them, I could have done much better.  I need to get back to work though. :(

this is similar

That was most likely shot in a studio w/ controlled lighting.  What's making them seem more like illustrations is the vivid colors and the highlights/shadows in the muscle definition has been... "burned and dodged" 

Sorry, I don't know of a different way of explaining it; that will prob. only make sense to studio photographers, but it's not the same as saturation or contrast.

I tried to keep it look half real and half fake like the husker illustrated pictures.  The previous one I overdid the contrast.

It looks better up close and with their faces IMO







still a ways to go though, when the players are in uniform in the hi pics it looks really sharp
