    The very best.
this is the first drive. Look at how loud they get when USC goes on offense, and then watch USC drive 99 yards.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I do give the Cornhole fans credit, they were still pretty loud even when USC was blasting freight train sized holes in their D-Line . . . but laughed a little, thinking why bother, given that USC was just going to open another huge hole.

Open question to Corn fans:  Is the problem the coaching staff or the talent?  Both?  The O and D both looked inept (until USC put in the scrubs at 42-10) and this is year 4 of the Callahan experiment.

Well Steve, if you listen to Cornhole announcers and pundits, USC didn't really put in the Scrubs . . . several times there was actually 1st stringers sprinkled amongst the 2nd and 3rd teamers when Corn was mounting its big comeback.

In all honesty, I think NU has the talent. They may not have the team speed, but they have the talent and depth at some spots.

The coaching is another story. The first NU drive was great. It looked like a well oiled machine. Short outs and slants and sprinkle in a few screens and dumps. Went right down and scored. The the next drive, run run run. The drive after that, run run run. And so on and so on. Why go away form socmething when it's working. Carroll did start tightening up on the wuick slants and outs, but why not adjust and try for a deep ball ONCE! NU just went back to the run. Until the 4th quarter.

As for the D, who knows what was up with that. They looked like they had never seen any film from USC. Were they playing with blindfolds on? No scraping from the 'backers. No filling from the 'backers. Missed tackles. Arm tackles.

I definitely think it was more the coahes then the team that lost that game. The players were never put in a place to win that game. Bad schems and bad play calling. Just bad gameplan management. I say let Watson make the offensive calls for one game and see what happens. Anyone remember the score to the CU/NU game in 2001 when Watson was calling the O for CU?

Did anyone else notice that it looked like Bowman ran beside Havili for about five yards before he even tried to tackle him?

I thought our offense looked fine. Their defense is awesome, and I think they would have made a lot of teams miserable offensively.

Defensively, I don't think Cosgrove ever was that great of a hire. I've felt that way since he was hired. Like Solich, I just kind of had a blah feeling about him when he got the job. I'll continue to support him through this year, but if we don't make major improvements defensively then he needs to go.

Our biggest problem on defense right now is our lack of a d-line. We lost our entire d-line from last year, we failed to adequately develop talent behind it because our old d-line "coach" was actually just a recruiter, and Joseph Townsend was delayed a semester from coming. Buddy Wyatt, our d-line coach, comes with a good resume recruiting and coaching, so I don't think this is his problem. The problems with our d-line are a parting gift and their cracks were forming before this season.

Anyway, that's my take. We're obviously not an "elite" team, but I don't think we are bad either. I think we will go 9-3 still.

I thought our offense looked fine after USC unloaded their bench

Fixed your post.  Half of NUs O came after the trojans starting to party and send in the scrubs (midway through the 3rd quarter).

My post didn't need fixed. Our offense played fine all game, given the level of their defense. I think it's funny that you guys are trying to talk trash about this. USC would trample every team except for about five. And we scheduled them. We would have looked awesome playing Missouri State too.

You guys just have no place to criticize us here. I try to be polite, but this line of attacks from you is ridiculous.

I'm not denying NU would've looked great against MO St.  Hell, ku would've.  (See ku's non con schedule and outcomes)  Nu's offense against USC ran the plays they were told to run.  Many didn't work.  The offensive ineptness can't be blamed on the players.  It's the coaches who didn't adjust.

We didn't have offensive ineptness. We called a good game offensively, but we were up against an elite defense. Our offense is good enough for the rest of our schedule.

Was Steve Spurrier offensively inept when he came against Nebraska's elite defense in 95 and got smoked? He had the #2 offense that year, and he won the national title the following year. Was Tennessee offensively inept in 1998's orange Bowl when they got stomped by our elite defense? No, they too won the national title the next year. Was Bill Snyder offensively inept when he got crushed by all of Osborne's teams and two of Solich's? No, he just got crushed by better teams.

We aren't 95 Florida, 97 Tennessee, or any of Snyder's good teams right now. We are a #20-25 ranked team that is still trying to break through, and if those great teams can get slaughtered by elite teams, then it's not the end of the world if we do too.

Just my opinion, but I don't think a good game was called offensively.  USC is a stellar team, but no one is perfect.  NU marched down the field on their first drive and scored a TD.  USC adjusted according to what they saw.  NU never did that offensively, atleast that's the way it seemed to me.  Of course I was watching the game in a National Guard chow hall in Hastings, NE with 100 or so husker fans in the room.  (they got a little loud, I may have missed a few things.)

If NU fans are going to talk the talk then you've got to walk the walk.  You have not been walking the walk for a long time but some of your boys still like to talk.  NU fans were on here ripping us after the Auburn game when they had no basis to do so.  Face it you got humiliated on your home turf, your program is a fraction of it's former self, and your fan base deserves any ribbing it takes especially from K-State fans given all the bs Husker fans have lobbed towards us the last few years.

I support our team, but I will be the first to admit that we have an arrogant, spoiled fan base.

Is that what all this is about?

Despite the flaws of our fan base, every one of them thought we were going to lose except for a few occasional homers.

Hmmm, I thought last years TAMU game was called pretty well. Defensive scheme was pretty lacking though, again.

That was a pretty good game come to think of it.  I cahnge my comment to make "never" = "usually (but mostly never)".  Fun stat:  Callahan is 0-13 when behind at half time.

Oh, and I forgot to mention LOL at Bowman's attempt to tackle CJ Gable.  Marlon Lucky's 5 stars pale in comparison to SC's backs.
