Since the powertards over there are simply too dumb to respond properly.

1.  Vanier's $3.5 million dollar donation was the largest single donation to KSU athletics.  Vanier has given KSU athletics much more than that over time, and several million more to the University.

2.  I know the phog likes to brag about other people's money, but just to clarify that if Jack Vanier has held on to all of his ADM Common Stock from when he retired from their board that alone is worth between $4-$500 million, plus the millions he has earned in dividends off of that stock over the nearly 3 decades he was on that board, plus his other holdings.   Now I know the phlock likes to brag about Phil Anschutz's net worth, but I suspect ol Phil's assets are pretty tied up right now.  But again, I know most of the members of the phlock have all written ku 6 and 7 figure checks and it won't be long before we see the Jayhoax indoor practice facility or the hankh Mangino buffett and smoothie center.

3.  Total contributions to KSU last year were over $90 million for the second year in a row.

4.  Total contributions to KSU athletics last FY was $16.1 million. (per my buddy Timmy in an interview in the Mercury).

5.  Total market value of the KSU endowment as of 6/30/07 was $331 million, with total Foundation assets pushing $500 million.  Again endowments and assets, one is a component of the other.

6.  Other noteable contributions to KSU:

Nearly $10 million from Alice Fiedler (a ku alum, her husband was a KSU alum and made the money).

The Merrill Family (who sadly have made several large contribution to ku thanks to Mrs. Merrill).

Warren Staley the retired CEO of Cargill who gave KSU a large 7 figure donation and Cargill just followed up with another million dollars.

The Beach's who have given KSU $3 or $4 million or more (and sadly made several large donations to ku).

The Hales (Hale Library . . . Hale Arena in KC . . . the same folks).

To many more to mention.

I don't get how Phil Anschutz or Jack Vanier's wealth could make anyone feel better about themselves, but it does, apparently.

    The very best.
Don't forget, we've beaten them 12/14 times.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I don't care either, I just enjoy how they always manage to get it wrong over there.

Can't help but note that some on the phlock were making fun of our growing relationship with Olathe.

1.  KSU research campus in Olathe (already getting squawked about hard by ku alums in the Kansas legislature).

2.  Garmin just funded 16 Electrical Engineering Scholarships at KSU (4 more than ku got from Garmin).

Most ku fans consider Olathe to be in Alabama.  These are the same ku fans who considered Overland Park to be in Alabama 20 years ago.

But you can't trust KSU's figures, they're cooking the books . . . or that's what some so called giving/endowment expert on phlocknet said and guys like Hoax took it and ran with it.  I don't deny that ku has a larger endowment and more giving, but in terms of annual giving KSU has closed the gap significantly, and KSU accounts for its numbers in cash, gifts, bequests and other assets in the same fashion ku does.   Where the flock often gets confused (and that's understandable considering what a diploma mill JCCC-L has become) is they can't figure out the difference between permanent endowments, and total assets.   Not all gifts go to the endowment, not all gifts can be counted as a permanent endowment, only an asset . . . until the actual monies are received as in the case of a monetary bequest (ex: you buy a life insurance policy and name KSU as the beneficiary, or pledge a % of your estate to KSU upon your death), or when a piece of real property is liquidated etc. etc. etc.

Look at their confusion between individual gifts and individual total giving as another example of typical phlock stupidity.
