No, not really, at least not for what the original poster was aiming for. If you want to use SOS as a barometer (or indictment) of a non-conference schedule, you have to examine only those games (all of them), ideally at the end of the season. KSU closes the season at Fresno State; meanwhile, a lot of schools have already begun conference play. That introduces a lot of skew.
I find the concept of "SOS thus far" utterly meaningless. It can oscillate wildly every week, but the
schedules aren't changing. The
teams aren't changing. The fluctuation is mostly a consequence of which games were played which week.
I would probably be more interested to see a SOS that incorporates the entire season's schedule, where the only change from week to week would be the game results of that week. It would also demonstrate how useless
any SOS valuation is in Week 3.
And shame on me for wasting more than one line on a troll.
