http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/279578.htmlDid K-State senior middle linebacker Justin Roland let the “Wildcat” out of the bag?
Roland said Monday that the Wildcats, ranked No. 14 nationally in total defense, could get a boost Sept. 29 when they play at Texas.
“We get Josh Moore back next week. That will help a bunch,” Roland said.
If that’s true, it’s news. Moore, a sophomore cornerback, has not played in 2007 because of an undisclosed academic issue.
•K-State linebacker/defensive end Ian Campbell calls teammate Jordy Nelson “The People’s Champ.” It’s doubtful anyone who loves K-State would dispute Campbell.
Nelson set single-game school records Saturday in receptions (15) and receiving yards (209) in the 61-10 thrashing of Missouri State. “He (Nelson) is pretty humble all the time,” Campbell said, “but I think deep down he knows that he is (The People’s Champ). He can’t deny that he isn’t.”
Nelson, on his memorable effort, said: “I guess it all came together one night, and things happened.”
Nelson has been nominated for the USA Today player of the week. You can vote online at
www.usatoday.com until 11 p.m. tonight.
•K-State learned its game at Texas starts at 2:30 p.m. and will be televised by ABC … Punter Tim Reyer leads the Big 12 with a 44.6 average (that’s No. 15 in the country) … Coach Ron Prince turns 38 today. Any big plans, Coach? “Not for me. I’m trying to stop having them (birthdays),” he said.
