USC's speed on D vs. Nebraska's lack there of on O.  They won't score any points by pounding it at USC like they did against Nevada.  Hell they couldn't hardly score on Wake and it's pretty apparent that Wake is not the same team as last year (see them getting blasted by BC in week 1).

I already posted my thoughts on this year's USC game in wildcatphreak's post. I don't think things are going to go well for us.

However, regarding last year's game, he called a fake punt early in the game and by running it so much the score was close and we had a chance--small as it was--late in that game. I don't think he "pussed" out. It think he gave us the best chance he could given horrible state of our secondary and USC's awesome receivers. He flat out had to limit the number of their offensive drives to have a chance. So anyway, I didn't have a problem with how he called that particular game.

My only problem with Callahan's play-calling is that he gets really conservative once he has a lead rather than going for the kill. It puts us in too many stressful situations. Also, I am unhappy with the play of our receivers and our poor tackling. Fundamental things that fall on the coaches.

Thus, I am far from being a homer on Callahan, but I think his play calling at last year's game was appropriate, frustrating as it may have been to watch.

It'll be a tough game. USC's offense is always good, but they probably have more talent on defense. I don't expect Nebraska to win, but if things break our way we have a fighting chance...and I'll be cheering like hell for them to pull it out.

Didn't you hire Callahan to win games like this?  This would be a pretty big breakthrough for him, and finally give some validation to him replacing Solich despite his subpar performance thus far.

USC has more talent, but NU has home team advantage.  USC is waaaay overrated.  Definitely not the #1 team in the country.  I personally think NU wins this one unless Callahan plays not to get blown out like he did last year.  If he actually goes for the throat then NU can win.

If UCLA can beat them, when USC fans have the rose bowl half filled up, then Nebraska should be able to beat them in Lincoln.

Hey, Cally has brains.  He was smart enough to play not to get blown out @USC last year because he knew if he did he'd have the wrath of the corn nation to deal with.  As it is, he put up a 'respectable game' and everyone enjoyed a nice moral victory.

Why bother trying to win if it means you might be putting your job on the line?

Nebraska has some decent star ratings, but USC has the best star ratings. NU worrying about stars makes them forgot they just need some playmakers. NU loses due to playmakers. I bet K-State could match up decently with playmakers, we may be small but we know how to play football.
