in order to lose his starting job?  Is there any scenario short of Josh knocking over a liquor store and shooting the clerk that would result in Coffman getting a shot?

j.free could walk into rons office, take a 'power of one' dump on his desk, and still start on saturday.

I think if Freeman raped Wefald he might not start the following game.  Josh Freeman is the starting QB at KSU until he leaves/graduates (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

I agree.  This is a big part of the problem.  There is a QB capable of pushing Josh that Prince won't give an honest shot to.  Josh needs to be knocked down a rung or two.  Who knows, as a result of this experiment, we might just find out that Carson is more of a gamer than the Golden Boy.

guess it would be called the power of two.

but yeah, why the massive exodus of qb's in the offseason.

"oh, josh is so superior....they left cause they are pussies"

they left cause they had no shot while prince was there.

he wanted his guy, he got his guy..and he will make babies with his guy.

    It's a nlellephant...
Move him to tight-end and then he doesn't lose his "starting job."

Keitz had this one called correctly when Josh was a high school senior.

Were you the one who called into the call in show last night after the game? They asked why CC hasn't gotten a chance when he dominated JF in the spring game. I LOL'ed for quite some time.
I do agree Freeman does have prob a little too much job security, but he has been more consistent this year, and is still a true sophomore (and CC is a redshirt frosh). What makes everyone think CC will do better?
32-57 (56%)
25-36 (69%)
Pretty decent numbers.

CC wont do better IMO>

i think we are all used to the junior college transfers, who have more exp. and stuff.

not used to a true freshman and soph. qb.

Interesting topic, considering it was the same discussion we had last night after the game. Bishop was benched a couple of times in 1997(Ohio U game and @ Tech), Beasley got the pine against ISU in '99(Adam Helm the win in relief, started @ TX the next game) and Ell had some sitdown time as well. It seriously makes you wonder if Prince (in writing) told Ronnie that once Josh was given the job, he would call all the shots.

There's a new sheriff in town.
Did anyone hear JF on the postgame show?
He is WAY too confident in his "abilities". He said so himself.
He needs to have a little more respect for the ability of the other teams secondary.
Both those INT's yesterday were horrible decisions and he thought he could thread the needle.

Backup quarterbacks are always the fans favorite player.

Freeman is much, much better than Coffman.  It's not close.  Realize this.  Accept this.  Stop thinking about the spring game because it meant absolutely nothing.

Ell got sitdown time when he broke his left f'n thumb.  Not even kind of the same thing.

Freeman's had a year in the system. He shouldn't be making rookie mistakes. I don't know anything about Coffman, except he never lost a game he started in high school. Which means absolutely nothing now days.

If Freeman isn't developing , that becomes a big problem, because that means he's uncoachable or that Prince and Co. can't develop players. Recruits will notice this and not come to K-State.

Freeman shouldn't loose his starting QB job, at least not until he really stinks it up. But, it would be nice if he felt a little pressure off the field to improve. If Prince would set aside his ego and his stubborness and see that a little position competition is healthy, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

4 100 yard rushing games vs USC, OU, NU and ISU. All on the road.

Regardless, he was horrible throwing the ball. Out of this world horrible.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Freeman is developing very nicely. He makes 2nd year player mistakes, no doubt about it, but he is still a sophomore.
Watching the games this year is night and day from last year. He doesnt lock on to one receiver, he goes through his progressions and checks down when he needs to. He got cocky on maybe 2 throws and thought he had a big enough arm to make the throw...BFD when you're playing SJSU.

Right now Freeman has a huge advantage in game experience over Coffman and we've never seen Coffman beat any D-1 team that wasn't comprised of Kansas State players.  Of course Prince isn't going to go with the unknown until something major happens or Josh really really really &@#%s up...and not just ambiguous things like he didn't "look sharp" or he made one or two bad decisions in the first two games.  Coffman's "undefeated as a starting quarterback" bullcrap label really helped Cody Hawkins not look like a &@#%ing retarded midget last night, oh wait no it didn't.

Case in point, if Freeman was supposed to be the great golden boy, why did Prince insist on starting Dylan Meier for the first few games last season only to change when it became obvious that the offense wasn't working at all.  Scary Smart is a lot less Bold and Daring than he lets on and he'll only change his starting play caller when we're either sure of victory or the offense entirely breaks down.

I remember thinking the same thing then as I did now.....I wish our talented QB would quit turning the ball over.

I'm not saying that Coffman is better or that he will take the job.  It is the fact that this possibility has been completely disregarded by the coaching staff to the point that there is absolutely no possibility of Josh Freeman feeling any heat that I have a problem with.

In my opinion, Josh Freeman has been handled way too much like a finely groomed and fancy show dog for us to expect him to fight like a pit bull.*

*Sorry, I realize that given recent events, QB's and pit bulls in the same analogy is a bit strange.
