Did anyone else notice what was on the right side of Ian's jersey just before "K-State"? It's some kind of symbol. It looked like a "Black Lions" logo (below), can anyone confirm this?

This may be related...

As those of you who are half way sober know that this Saturday is Ft. Riley day.  Well it could be pretty special.  Let me give you a taste:

1.  Willie has been working all week with Army personnel on his skit.
2.  All those at the game in uniform will be on the field for the presentation of the colors.  Afterwards they will take their berets off and put on a hat that says Army Strong/K-State Proud...courtesy of Briggs Auto
3.  Tribute to the Black Lions.  Will honor a fallen soldier.  Parents will be there.
4.  I believe it will be the command sargent major who will be miked up and yell out cadence as the cats come on the field platoon style.

Prince showing his love for the Army. :ksu: :beerchug:

PS  should this have gone into premium content?

It would be badass to be able to wear that patch on your jersey for a year.

I just finished looking through/watching all the info from inside.kstatesports.com and the websites it links to. I have to same that the Black Lions and this tradition kick ass. As a student at KSU I'm honored that the U.S. Army has chosen to involve our football program with its Black Lion Award tradition.

That being said I'm in favor now of scrapping the "Lynch Mob." I think we need a new nickname, something that pays tribute to the men and women who serve our country.

That's a really really really cool logo.

That being said, when does the big red thingy leave? Having soldiers in Manhattan is brutal.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

How about some alternate home uniforms to be worn on Ft. Riley day?  I'm thinking all black with the Black Lions insignia on the helmets.  That would be pretty solid.

The Big Red One, or 1st Infantry Division, is in Ft. Riley to stay.  Get used to it Fatty, not even all the soldiers are there yet.  Many are still in Germany.

Does anyone have a picture of him at the Auburn game where you can see the patch on his jersey?

While I agree that this is pretty cool and a good "new tradition", you also gotta think that this would also fall under the category of scary smart.  These army guys cycle in and out about as fast as college students and if we bring a few into the wildcat family every year we  could increase our fanbase and influence.  Not only that but they can spread the wildcat spirit all over the world instead of just syphilis.

When I get to Manhattan this year, I will do so.  I will hunt him down, tie him to a chair, put a video screen in front of him, and you can dress up in your Patton gear and.. counsel him.

That's a case of the extreme minority ruining it for the majority.  Most soldiers are inherantly good.   Many just get hopped up on adrenaline, extreme confidence and machismo brought out further by alcohol.  It also doesn't help when you're out in the field for six weeks straight with no women, alcohol, or any form of relaxation.

This thread is also in danger of being moved...

The Black Lion Award given to Campbell is Badass.  He should be extremely proud to wear it.

Without the students (and faculty) and the soldiers, Manhattan probably wouldn't exist.

to be a little more accurate:

soldiers are to JC what
students are to manhattan.

couldn't find the little logical marks.

Of course it would!  Manhattan is home to great local businesses like Burnett's Automotive, Bob's Diner, Kansas Kollection and GTM Sportswear!

the lynch mob should only be replaced if the successor has a hand signal cooler than this:
