I really hope not.  I realize UT looked like crap in their first game and tcu is a formidable team, but if UT loses I think our chances of beating them actually go down.  They need to be undefeated when we come to town.

In short..no.

I dont' see tcu running the ball up UT's gut like they did against Baylor.

UT's pass defense is a bit better this year and their run defense is again stellar.

Oh..and  :twobirds: UT.

Oh..and  :twobirds: UT.

Oh man, the haterade drinkers.

To the original question--here in Austin the sky is falling, the sky is falling.  People quickly forget that quite a few teams look crappy to start.  OU was dominated by UAB last year until they pulled their head out and got lucky with a bad call.

The question is answered easily--if the problems us Texas fans saw (Colt not making reads, Offensive line unable to push anyone off, Secondary unable to cover--goddammit, again) are not corrected, then yeah, it will be a long year for Texas fans, and you can keep up with all the middle fingers and upside down hook 'ems, I suppose.

The offensive line issue is the scariest one.  One could hope that McCoy just had an off night, and is not going to slump.  One could hope that the secondary is just learning.

But when you have Four tries within three yards to punch the ball in against Arky State, and you cannot do so...that is frightening.

I saw some of the UT game on pay per view, and well, wrong and wrong.

At least so far.

And UT's oline looked freakishly bad.

That said, I don't think tcu's offense is very good.  Look for UT to Auburn out a win at home.

o-line looked bad.

d-line actually had mixed results, but overall, pretty good.

linebackers and secondary not so good.

how this all plays out is anybody's guess.

    Damn, I'm sexy
I hope Texas wins. The Big 12 is already taking enough heat for its W-L versus other conferences.

Thought I just read somewhere that tcu is 5 and 0 againt B12 teams, is so this may be a harder test than people think.  They are ranked and for good reason.

If tcu does win, look for them to repeat Boise State's feat as an undefeated non-champion.  There's nothing daunting on their schedule after this weekend.

09/01 Baylor W 27-0
09/08 at #4 Texas
09/13 at Air Force
09/22 SMU
09/29 Colo St
10/06 at Wyoming
10/13 at Stanford
10/18 Utah
11/03 New Mexico
11/08 at BYU
11/17 UNLV
11/24 at SDSU

The slide in Asstin started late last year and is continuing.  Look for tcu to take down the wounded longhorns in Austin..

Texas doesn't beat tcu, it just beats off.

you know, there are really smart posters on this board.  I see examples of pretty good wit and humor all the time on here.  Maybe you should take a few lessons from them.

Texas wins.  For the first time in a while this is a rebuilding year.  Texas is deep with fresh and next year should win the NC.  UT's CBs are worse than they've had in 15 years and the LBs are suspect.  The offense has best in the nation talent but is hindered by schema.

Long story short, Texas is dealing with what most big 12 teams are experts at- playing 3 stars at cb - and will struggle.  Texas may only win 9 this year but again its a rebuilding year.

Texas 45
tcu 20
