not sure why everyone is ecstatic about losing to this team.

Yep, they have a great program last few years...blah blah blah SEC, speed, 85K crowd, Bo Jackson, blah blah blah.

Auburn is average right now.

Their OL is hilarious to watch.  Cox is not a difference maker.  They have subpar talent for their conference at RB and other skill positions offensively.

Their front 7 will be the best we face defensively(I'm sure Hox and Maxell will tell us that isn't the case..LOL) but AU's secondary is just okay.

That game, competitive-wise, should not surprise any rational poster here.  Auburn has issues right now.  After seeing the game I'm pissed KSU didn't finish.

Yes, positive stuff from the game and we have plenty of good players and definite improvement has been made in some areas.....but nobody should be overly impressed by Saturday.

The North after 1 week

1-2 interchangeable) Nebraska and Mizzou

3-5 throw in a hat and pick) Kansas, KSU, and Colorado

6) LOL ISU

Oh, and btw, Texas is a bad football team right now as well.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I think Mizzou finishes third at the highest in the north this year.

I thought I'd be over the game by now.  I'm not.  Auburn sucks and we absolutely blew it.

Yep KSU did blow it, and the biggest thing was not putting a team away that's shown the propensity to come back in a bunch of games that was playing on their home field.   But at least we are pissed off that KSU should have won the game, and we're not pissed off because it looked like KSU didn't belong.

My biggest concern is how will the coaches and team adjust and will they prepare themselves and be ready to play against San Jose State and will Saturday nights effort be there all year long.

Oh I'm more impressed by our team than I want to let on.  I just think we let the crowd and other things beat us...Auburn isn't an 11 win Auburn team but they could win 8 or so which isn't bad given their schedule.

We have a ton of kids on defense who can play.  Our DE, LB, and secondary can play w/ anybody (cept for the USC, LSU's of the world).

Given the number of players who will be returning from this defense next year and some additions Prince will make...he is building what will be a dominating defense.

Arthur Brown would have a sh1tload of fun in this defense.

We need a stud JC DE in this class and hopefully Tigner could step up for Watts' departure.

I thought the OL played well given the caliber of Auburn's DL.  Three of those 4 starters were returning starters from last year for Auburn and Sims, the 4th starter, played a TON last year.

One player on the OL who did impress me in regards to how much he has improved was Spexarth.  He could actually handle the bullrushes of Thompson and Sims.  In previous years 250lb Illinois State DL would truck right through him.

I thought considering the big question mark going in and the loss of Moran we actually got pretty good play from our NT too.  Balkcom and Cline held their own and the combined effort of our front 3 kept OGs off Roland and Walker which allowed them to make plays.  Very impressed with our run defense based on the question marks coming into this game.  Now it will be interesting to see how opponents adjust and we counter considering now they have film on us.

Cline played better than I expected, and alleviated some of my concerns there.

Another "good thing" -  The players played for Prince and you could tell they "bought in" - all the crazy stuff with players leaving, etc. can be dismissed now (no pun intended).

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Cline did play well but I'm a little concerned that Crews hasn't worked into the rotation at all.  We need him or Stewart to step up at some point during the year and we'll need them both next season.  Balkcom held his own but I don't think we'll make it through the season with just Cline and Balkcom.

I still think next year Ian Campbell moves back to DE.   We've just got too much talent stacked up at OLB to play him there when he's an all conference DE and DE will be a need position.   Especially if he keeps filling out and gets up to 260 or so which I think is quite possible.  Every time I see him he looks bigger and as a OLB I doubt he's even tried to gain weight.

What was so impressive about Mizzou's game against Illinois?  I'd put ku and K-State ahead of them based on week one performances.

    Overkill. It works.
I didn't get to watch all of it, but I wasn't at all impressed with MU or Illinois' defenses.  It was one of those 'whoever scores last' kinds of deals.

Misery is terrible! They continually shot themselves in the foot offensively. Unfortunately, they'll probably get most of that worked out.

But the constant under Pinkel is their lack of defense! To let a team like Illinois do that to them is unforgiveable... and based on history, I don't see that changing this season. Misery will NOT be in the hunt for a north division championship... if for no other reason than they have a swiss cheese defense. And defense is what wins championships!

I could see ku and K-State competing for the North title if we can beat NU at home and pull out a win against Mizzou at Arrowhead.

Good to see you be honest about Auburn right now. I think you nailed it perfectly-they are flat terrible on offense. And no, I won't say our front 4 is better than theirs. They are very good on the DL. We're not chopped liver but we don't have a DE right now like Groves. Sims is a load in the middle-man he just ate Bedore's lunch on a couple of plays I watched.

That being said, we're going to eat Missouri's lunch on October 6th. They still cannot run the ball and cannot stop the run. Bad, bad news for Missouri.

He did get Bedore on a few plays but he's going to do that all season long to the very best.  Bedore also stalemated him and Thompson most of the time.  The biggest surprise was Spexarth.  Last year he was getting trucked by 250lb Illinois State OL and the year before was even worse when he filled in against ku.  But he grows up...both Thompson and Sims were bringing their best bullrushes against him and Spexarth was handling it just fine.  His feet and strength have improved dramatically.  Classic case of a kid who wouldn't see the field for most of Snyder's teams until his 4th and/or 5th years in the program but was forced to play earlier than he was ready last year and a few years ago.  People need to remember that...some of these kids should not have been on the field or would not have been on the field for most of the better years for us but due to all of the kids quitting or transferring or failing to meet academic requirements years ago we lacked those 4th and 5th year juniors, seniors in the program who normally would have played ahead of some of these kids.
