I still can't figure out why he sucked while he was here.  He's looking pretty good tonight.  He used some speed to get outside and then ran over a dback on his way to the 2 yd line.  It's very strange.  Oh yeah, he's also a rookie from "Kansas."

    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Because those big guys out there were doing something the big guys at KSU never did while T-Gun was here: blocking.   :flush:

Weren't Patton and James Johnson running behind that line?  They didn't seem to fall down at the first sign of any contact.  Let's just face it, Clayton underachieved for how gifted he was athletically.

There's really not all that big of a difference between them - it's nothing like 2 ypc vs. 8 ypc.

RUSHING  GP  Att  Gain  Loss  Net  Avg   TD  Long  Avg/G
Patton, Leon   12  108  640  31  609  5.6  6  44  50.8
Johnson, James   10  98  428  25  403  4.1  2  37  40.3
Clayton, Thomas  5  67  338  16  322  4.8  3  69  64.4

chum1, did you write this?

Clayton is a versatile big play threat, capable of taking it the distance everytime he touches the ball.

NFL line blocks fit his style more.   Yes , I agree about the OLine theory.

He didn't suck at all.  He just didn't play because of attitude and off-field incidences stemming from that attitude.

    The "other" KSU
Could it be that it wasn't Clayton who sucked?

Chum, I believe that you are correct. His off field issues - he wasn't "Prince's guy" - who knows, I know that more times than I can count, he wasn't getting blocks by the line and we relied WAY too much on a RB in our offensive scheme. Perhaps Prince was predictable too... it is like the location of Jimmy Hoffa's body, some things we my just never know. I am glad that the guy is having success.

I think Clayton would have started all season if he gave 100% and quit assaulting parking people.

He was great against crap teams that our oline would dominate.  If HE was the one that sucked so bad he wouldn't have led the nation in rushing after week 3 in 05.

I'm not a big JJ fan either.  I would prefer Patton get at least 2/3 of the carries throughout the course of the season.  For some reason Johnson just strikes me as too tall and thin to be a very effective running back at this level.  I don't actually know how tall he is, but he just strikes me as pretty tall. And thin.
