Does anyone else see how the media is picking ku to win 7 games this year or am I the only one who sees them only winning 4 games this year

With their schedule anything less then 7 will be a fireable offense for Mangino.

I think they'll beat Toledo pretty easily and I would guess they beat C Michigan as well.  4 wins is probably worse case scenario but I think 6 or 7 is more realsitic.   If they can start off 4-0 then I think they'll manage to win 3 conference games like they always do.  I just hope one of those three isn't against us.  I think we're better then them but it doesn't set up well on the schedule for us again this year.

It'd be a CRIME if they didn't get to 7 wins. If K-State gets to 7 wins with their schedule, it would actually be pretty big.

ku v Toledo is a push, in no way is it a for sure win
ku v CMU is not as for sure of a win as people think

ku going 2-2 before big 12 play is flirting with disaster
Mangino is gone after this year

NU got clobbered the last time they were in Lawrence. I'll play it safe and assume a close loss. I need to see the Huskers with Keller and their new DL before I can make a prediction.

Toledo lost to ku in 2004, 63-14 (Hawks finished with a losing record that year, while Toledo won the MAC). It was over before halftime, and Toledo was expected to do great things that year with Gradkowski at QB. Sure this is a different year, but ku should handle Toledo in Memorial. CMU could be interesting, even though they have a few key injuries. LeFevour has a great arm, but they are breaking in a new coach and various first time starters.

It was a crime that they didn't win at least 7 games last year; Mangino should be fired if he doesn't get at least 7 wins, in reality he should probably get 8.  I'm more concerned at who ku might bring in as their next coach although I think it was stupid to keep Mangino around this year.  If they were going to do it, they should have done it last year or keep Mangino through '09.  ku's conference schedule in '08 and '09 get's infinitely more difficult (TT, OU, UT).

We are talking about ku, a team that for the past 2 decades has had 1 or 2 good (and by good i mean bowl bound) seasons. What do we have to worry about. They will always be a second tier Big XII program. They have sub par facilities (I know they are being renovated), They have no history, and they are two steps away from being on probation.
Go Ahead, fire the fat coach, who are you going to get to come in and coach at a Basketball school that will always be a basketball school.

Totally agree that if ku only wins 6 games in 2007, Lew gets rid of Mangino.

Doesn't ku have a new Offensive Coordinator this year?

I don't think some specific number should be the determining factor. But winning less than 7-8 games would be very disappointing as a fan. I've not felt this good about a Mangino team since he arrived, so I'm optimistic that ku will be able to close out games in the fourth quarter.

As for the Toledo comment - ku is a different beast on the road, but they still controlled the pace of the game. Turnovers were obviously costly. Some are predicting they'll win the MAC this year, but I think their QB situation is too much of a problem at this point.

We can get into this argument all you want, but ku has more conference titles, more wins, and more players in the NFL Hall of Fame than K-State.  I don't want to get into a war, but that comment is just as dumb as someone saying KSU has no history in Basketball.

How much time have you spent scouting Toledo and Central Michigan?   Seems like ku has a new rival in your eyes.

I expect one of those first two teams to upset them.  Most likely central michigan, I also only expect 6 wins out of them this year.  Unless Mangino can finally win on the road, which is doubtful, since he could not do it in his first five seasons.

What year did you start watching football? Two bowl seasons (and one bowl-eligible) since Mangino arrived. ku was ranked #10 in the nation in 1995 (beat up UCLA in a bowl and finished with 10 wins) and in '92 they beat BYU in another bowl.

Just like KSU, but with an all-time record over .500

Quote

Not renovating - building for the first time. The weight facility is one of the best in the nation, but its shared by all sports programs. Now ku will have a $31 million football-only facility and practice fields adjacent to the stadium.

Quote
They have no history

Want to compare Hall of Famers? All-time greats? KSU has nothing before Snyder.

ku has three of the longest series against teams in college football (against MU, KSU and NU).

and they are two steps away from being on probation.

Not sure what you mean, ku is currently on probation.

ku is averaging nearly as many fans at home as KSU. Does that make you guys a basketball school as well?

What have you done for the Big XII lately in Football.
While ku may have some history, and i am sure it is a great and storied program, KSU has won the battle with ku over the past 20 years.
And while you may have had a great year where your team went to a upper tier bowl, please, spare us all the talk of ku being Gods gift to earth.
I Have a news flash for you walter concrite, your not. So, again, ku will flirt with 6 wins and be a middle of the road, SECOND TIER, football program

About as much as KSU in the past three years.

Funny how my fellow ku brethren live in the past with football.

By conference titles, how many include the current conference?  Right, same number as we have in bball.

Given conference records, I'd rate ku in the lower third.  Need to win on the road and beat several ranked opponents to move out of that basement.

who cares; mangino has nothing to do with any of those things you mentioned. Did he say no history compared to KSU?  we're aware that before 1990, we had no history as well.  But if ku fans are going to keep considering KSU the measuring stick, then we're going to keep laughing at ku fans everytime they say Mizzou is a bigger rival.

7 wins for ku means they didn't get upset in Lawrence and won a single road game that they're likely to be favored in, perhaps significantly favored.

It is kind of hard seeing them win more than 7 though.  Real hard to imagine them winning more than 1 roadie in a season, or beating NU at home, or MU at Arrowhead.

I see Baylor as the one who appears to be making the attempt to exit the Big 12. That's not because we lost to them last year - that is a different story for a different thread. Baylor has gotten better, I think that Guy Morris is a pretty good coach... tough to recruit to a place where student athletes are beheading each other. Mangina, hasn't impressed. Sure measure him against KSU now... but take his best team from all the years he was here, throw Nick Reid, Jon Cornish, and all the rest of his "all everything" players on one team, and pit them against the 2003, or earlier teams of Snyders, and I doubt that ku's score comes out of the single digits. Here is the deal, Mangina has a horrible record, he offends fans, and under his watch - there were people caught cheating in academics for football players! How do you support a freaking low-life like that?
