Maxell, Nebraska/Creighton, Happy and Gay did not collaborate to write this bit...

Kansas State @ Auburn (Auburn - 13 1/2):  The question I have in this one is can Auburn score 14 points to cover?  Tommy and company are a grind it out defensive ballclub.  Even with Brandon Cox at the helm for the Tigers, this is one of the worst offenses in the SEC.  There is no doubt that the Tigers hold their hat on their defensive prowess.  However, K-State beat Texas last year, and have one of the most talented QB's in the country in Josh Freeman.  He single-handedly beat Texas last year, and brings an up-and-coming Big 12 squad into Auburn as well.  Much like Okie State, Kansas State has the horses to actually beat these guys at home.  However, I would expect the Tigers to get enough pressure on Freeman, and disrupt the passing lanes (which is what they are REALLY good at), to make this a tough game for the Wildcats.  Look for Auburn to score on defense in some form or fashion to cover this one, as Josh Freeman will struggle mightiliy against a VERY good Auburn defense.

He saw that KSU's OL last year gave up fewer sacks in conference play than NU's, and rushed for darn near the same YPC in conference play.

apparently Nubb fans forecasting '06 didn't see Nubb '05 OL.

Thanks.

Get it yet?  See how that works?

Well gee that must mean you had a better OL and still do. Truly last year, we were better than you guys up front but not by much. We were decimated with injuries to kurt Mann, Matt Slauson, Carl Nicks, Andy Christensen and of course Greg Austin. We had to play a dude that could barely walk because his knees were ground bone to bone.

Now we have a returning center that has started all games last year and who the coaches feel will play on Sundays.
Quite possibly the best LT in the Big 12 with Carl Nicks.
Matt Slauson moved to his natural position of guard.
Lydon Murtha moved to his natural position of RT.
And a two deep with little to no dropoff behind the starters.
Three players that will be on the All-Conference teams at the end of the year.

Amazing what another year and some good recruiting can do for you. Is there any question two of our scout team true freshmen would be starting on your OL?? Its not even a comparison. Bedore MAY be able to crack the two deep at Nebraska as backup C. That's the only guy on your team I'd take.

Your coach must be a certifiable bonehead to play so many studs out of position.

And I will agree that NU's OL was superior to KSU's.  Just not in run blocking or pass protection.

A Senior QB and horse like Brandon Jackson make up for a lot of idiocy on the sideline and incompetence in the trenches.

Well considering Taylor was beat up all year from our inability to pass protect, imagine what another senior with better talent and a vastly improved OL in front of him can do.

BTW, Lucky had 1,200 yards of total offense last year as a part time starter.

Still 0-1 in trying to kill himself though.  That is zero percent.  He's really going to have to pick it up in the regular season.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

wow, Maxell lays sh1t on thick.

He now suggests Nubb OL "better but not by much" than KSU OL last year.

Then you look at the other personnel...and, apparently, KSU can't move the ball in '07?

My head is spinning.

Keller can go into a rage fit when he gets firmly planted on his arse again and again.  That's what he is best at.

Jackson had 1100 yards in conference play.  True Freshman Leon Patton had over 900.  How many did Lucky have?  I'm guessing half of Lucky's yards came in the non-con.

Not to mention the fact that lucky only mustered 275 yards vs big 12 oppy's.

LOL. Has he hit 4.4 + ypc yet?

hopefully the grass fields he will play on this season will be well mowed.  It sucks when those blades of grass = 12th man.

Steven Cline led the conference in sacks?     I would hazard a guess that all of our DTs COMBINED have less then 5 sacks in their careers.

They combined for either 20.5 or 17.0 last season.  (Did Manu play DT or DE last season?) I don't know where that put them in the conference though.

Echols-4
Cline-3
Seiler-3
Moran-4
Manu(?)-3.5
Balkcom-1
Faustin-1

So we have 5 sacks total among the returning DTs.  I stand by my comment:  "Or DT   :crybaby:"

Holy carp.  nu looks unbeatable on paper.  If you don't win conference championship, it will be a major upset with that stocked roster.  You would need to seriously start lining up a list of new coaches at that point.  Make sure you have at least 6 on the list.
