I am impressed with the semi-realistic depiction of the FatMan. They only trimmed him up a little, or it is an older picture they used for the graphic model.

It sucks that he has to look at a track from every angle.

It is like the grossest most disturbing thing you could ever imagine but you just can't look away.

No . . . it's more like Old Chicago, a stack of file folders and papers, a large pizza, a pile of hot wings, maybe some cheese sticks, and a couple of bud lights to wash it all down with.  At least that's what it used to be . . . also enjoys (ed) the place in Lawrence that serves the big ol burger with an egg on top.

There's a ton of fans there, but they're sitting in the shade.

The "16 inch reinfornced concrete floors" part is whats funny. They don't note the view, but they note that it is strong enough to hold their fat ass coach.

As for the football facility itself, why can't any K-State fans admit that you're at least slightly impressed?  ku will have the newest, most modern football facility in the Big 12 North, at least until Nebraska renovates their facilities in a couple of years.  This is a big step for ku football on leveling the playing field with other schools in the Big 12, especially K-State.

and killing the hill in the process?  many ku alumn are pissed about this whole thing.  All that for football offices?  Maybe tear down some of those rat nest 300/year houses to the north instead?  football offices and weight rooms are not worth screwing up the only positive fan experience.

The hill will really only be disrupted this year.  only one story will be above ground, and its tucked off into the old parking lot and gravel area that once its finished and landscaped, it won't be very obtrusive.  The two practice fields on the other side of the hill are whats screwing with tailgating and parking this year.

there's one inescapable truth that will always be ku football to me, that truth is the track.  spend your millions on your shiny underground offices with 16 inch thick floors for HCMM... spend your blood, sweat, and tears toiling over concrete and reinforced steel.  no matter how much you try to literally build a football program.. your football team/program/complex will always play second fiddle to The Kansas Relays.  you'll always have the track.

LOL @ the track   :flush:

It's pretty said when a structure must be designed to take into account a point load from a single human being. I'm guessing the decision to have only one story above grade is because it is easier to transfer the previously mentioned load through the structure, into the ground. Considering that this point load will continue to grow over time, the structural engineers must have played it conservatively, not wanting to risk any unpredictable fatigue in the structure as the load grows. Keep the load paths short so that the loads are quickly transfered to the subsoil.

Maybe the current plans can be scrapped when Mangino gets canned at the end of the season. Then you can have an actual building above grade instead of a bunker.

:curse: @ the track.  Its bush.  It was fine in the 50's and 60's when we were winning team championships in track, but thats nearly 40 years ago.

The only way to get rid of the track would be to dig down and add seats where the track was, effectively becoming "a big hole in the ground" as ku faithful like to refer to BSFS. They would have to become us. Never happen.

    The very best.
your stadium is garbage. it was built in 1912.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.
