Right-hander Zach Peterson set a Pioneer League record Tuesday night by striking out 11 straight hitters in short-season Idaho Falls’ 9-1 victory over Billings.
Brian Bannister is 5-1 with a 2.23 ERA in his last seven starts.
Second baseman Mark Grudzielanek played the entire game despite being beaned in the first inning by Chicago starter Jose Contreras. Jason LaRue was also hit by a Contreras pitch.
The Royals have been hit by 73 pitches. The club record is 76 in 2004.
