You can't be racist and like basketball.

I have refrained from posting on this site some of the things I've heard.  Things that come from people with insiders close to the program.  Of course it is all hearsay, but it's coming from Cats, loyal Cats who love this program, people I have known not fabricate or exaggerate their concerns.

I've heard Prince is a taskmaster.  No, that is too kind a word.  I hear he is a tyrant, a bully, a thug.  I hear he only cares about Ron Prince and only cares about what the program can bring him in that regard.  I hear that despite the fact that he has media and fans snowed (Mark May saying, "Prince gets that it's not about him!!" for instance), that most of us, to him, are of no more worth than gum on his shoe.

This is all hearsay, I know.  I cannot confirm or deny it.  I don't want to name sources because they aren't in a position where they can just publicly spout off what they see and know.  And a part of me deep, deep in my soul does not want to believe it.  I want to think Weiser made the right choice, that Prince has our program heading in the right direction, that most of my misgivings have to do with the fact that I became so comfortable with the soft-spoken, fatherly presence of Bill Snyder and that Ron Prince's style is just culture shock and nothing more.

But when I see players leaving for personal reasons--Kreibel, Moran, Meyer--and assistant coaches packing bags after one season.  When I see players with off-field problems getting suspended.  When Prince comes out and explains away a lack of focus in public pratice by saying that he had been "working them too hard" because he "had to."  He is as good as admitting that he runs them ragged.  Yes, they may need work, but did Snyder ever have to do this?

And not only that.  Something about Prince has changed.  This time last year, he had sold me and thousands of Wildcat fans on his "bold and daring" approch.  I thought I saw someone a little like Lou Gossett Jr's character in An Officer and a Gentleman, hardnosed because he had to be but ultimately fair.  When you watch that movie, no matter how loud Gossett yells, you never doubt that he still cares about his charges.  You see it in his eyes.  But I don't see it in Ron Prince's eyes.  The Ron Prince I've seen lately looks nervous, pissed off, a little scary.  There's something about him that makes me feel ... uneasy.

I'm not getting a good feeling about this season or this Program, and I haven't been for awhile.  No, the sky is not falling.  Just a weird feeling is all, and if any fellow Cats want to ride my ass for it, so be it.  Heck, we may go out and shock the world by taking games we shouldn't and coming away with 8-9 victories.  If immediate gratification is all we care about, okay.

But I'm feeling weird, and I don't know why.  I hope Prince proves me wrong.  I'd love to be eating crow on this in 7-8 weeks.

Maybe Ron Prince is a really great guy and all that stuff is total crap. I don't know. However, if rumors like this keep coming out then Prince could develop a reputation--fair or not--that really hurts his recruiting even more.

A lot of this just looks like normal turnover from players not wanting to adjust to a new coach, but if rumors circulate long enough they become true, even when they are in completely false. Prince may want to address this stuff.

Everybody should put "this is all hearsay" in every post they make. That's a damn fine phrase.

Maybe we could rename this forum to the "The Loyal Cat Lair"
I'm thinking several of Catt Matt's buds are starting to frequent our site.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I'd ignore it.  I did when some NU fans complained about players leaving right after callahan was hired.

It's NOTHING to be worried about unless it continues at a HIGH rate after this year I'd say.  There will always be some players who leave, no matter how lovable or successful a coach is.

I was all about RP last year, but I am firmly off of his bandwagon.  I really think we're going to suck balls this year and we got lucky last year.

Both, + the fact that you hopped off during an offseason.
