History Lesson first:
Bill Snyder and a local Manhattan artist created the Powercat Logo . . . the local artist a KSU art prof signed over the rights of the Powercat to KSU, in return he and/or his estate will get 7% of the annual KSU licensing take on the Powercat until 70 years after his death (For years Idiot ku fans thought Snyder owned the rights to the Powercat logo).   So, the Powercat was instantly profitable for KSU, and while so many people say that the Powercat logo was "ripped off" mainly from Iowa.   Snyder ran the final design by the folks at Iowa and they had no problem with it.

Why I laugh at ku:
ku . . . hired a consulting firm, had public surveys, focus groups and all and all paid well into the 6 figures, to basically copy kutztown University.

I have no idea why people say you ripped it off from Iowa.  Its not like Snyder had any ties to Iowa, and they look nothing alike.

I'd much rather have a figure of our mascot than the letters ku...or the clown bird insignia.

I didn't say that they were created by 2 different people.  Iowa created theirs.  KSU liked what Iowa did.  KSU approached the same guy and said "make that, but purple and a cat."  KSU fans then pass it off as original.

Again, the real humor in all of this, is that ku spent somewhere between $100K-$200K to develop a logo that kutztown spent $20K to develop.

It was $88k and change.  It doesn't bother me because no one really sees it.  Now its on the football helmets, but all of our basketball games and anytime we're on SportsCenter the Jayhawk is what is flashed up. It would be different if we were like ND or Ohio State or Wisconsin where the letters and mascots are used interchangeably, but we are always represented with
