Well, that's three more innings than he got through in his previous start.  Progress!

The Yankees are doing that to a lot of pitchers right now. I'll wait until Thursday to pass judgment on Mr. Davies.

Not me.  I didn't get where I'm at today (nowhere) by waiting to make the rational decision.  I drop the hammer at the first sign of weakness.

Davies career ERA is like 6.001 or something, he sucks miserably, I thought maybe we could have gotten a more proven arm for Dotel. Davies is a just an awful player.

Octavio Dotel:

3.1 Innings Pitched
5 runs, 4 earned
1 blown save

Commence droppage.

The Royals didn't get anything for Dotel because he's never re-established his game following Tommy John surgery.  Between the surgery and his recent trade, Dotel had pitched 33 innings and given up 22 earned runs (6.00 ERA).

Davies went 6 2/3 innings, gave up 3 hits and 0 runs, walked two and struck out five today. Not a bad response to his first outing. Thoughts?

Get-away day.  It's pretty common that the 3rd game of a series during the week to be played early to allow teams to catch a plane for their next destination, so travel doesn't stretch too deep into the night.

Dotel is on the 15 day DL. In 4 1/3 innings since the trade he has given up 4 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 1 home run and has blown a save. We know how well Davies pitched in his last outing. Maybe GMDM knows what he's doing after all.

You're getting exactly what pufizzle promised.  Half of his starts will be quality or near-quality, and the other half will wreck a bullpen.  That's probably worth more than current-day Dotel, but at least he has a chance to heal up, rehab, and return to something impressive.  Davies is what he is.

In today's KC Star there is a comparison between Davies and Kevin Millwood. I bring this up because that's the pitching match up tonight. We'll have even more of an idea of what we've got after tonight.
