good deal.  The OL continues to get better athletes.

This move was inevitable...Bedore, Viers, and now Kendall.

    Hey, basketball!!!
Love the move. Doesn't matter the talent you've got on offense if you dont have a good offensive line. Zach Kendall is very athletic for his size, why not move him to the anchor position of our leading weakness  on the team, when he already is the right size.

I love it.  :woohoo:

Alright, now who will get playing time at DT this year? Being the 3-4 DT making the O-Line double team you is big. Here's how I see it at DT if the X-Man comes along on the field, heard that he already passes the eye test today.

Moran
Cline
Stewart
Balkcom
Crews

Yeah Stewart and Balcom are 280, and Crews is completely unproven.  We're set.

Me either. And I was expecting alot of things on that list. Particularly X-Man (freshman) & Crews (playing shape) being ready to go. I was going to give Gabriel another year to get in shape and to contribute in 2008.Balkcom was warming up to DT late in the year also, but dont know if he is really ready to contribute at the #3 DT. Maybe we'll stick Abana, Faustin, or Manu at DT once in awhile.

Or just go without.  Is that an option?  We got a lot of DBs.  Maybe Garvin or somebody could move up?  The 3-4 would work for us if it was renamed the 3-12.

Yeah, how in the hell is this supposed to be a good move?  We need warm bodies on the DL, and Kendall should be there at least another year.

Because Hatter said so and gave it a thumbs up.

That sucks, we have no depth on the Dline.

In the new scheme there is only one interior guy on the field at a time.  Our top 3 are Moran, Cline and Crews.  We also have Abana and Stewart coming in not sure you need more then 5 guys at one spot.  Balckom is a DE in the 3-4 that is where he worked all spring but I suppose if we got in a pinch he could move back inside and play the nose.  Kendall wasn't going to see the field no matter what position he played this year.  This move was made with the long term in mind and I don't  think it really affects our functional depth at any spot this year.

No we didn't have proven depth before and we just lost a guy that many thought would be solid.  It's not like our dline was great last year either.

If you don't like our depth then you don't like our depth but moving the 5th team NG (which is about what Kendall would have been) doesn't really affect your depth all that much one way or another. The kid missed all last year and is really raw.  He just wasnt' going to make a big impact no matter what position he played this year.

lol that this "effects depth"...no it doesn't.  He wasn't going to play this year at DT anyway unless it was scrub duty.  Did you see him at the spring game?  Plays too high and just doesn't look like he has the mentality of a DL.  He looks like a perfect fit for the OL.

I've been waiting for this move to take place for the better part of a year.  I'm glad it happened sooner rather than later.  It will add yet another athlete to the interior OL...get both he and Viers acclimated and some playing time this year and we'll have that much more depth and talent inside on the OL either later in the year or next year.

Again...it's a 3-4...not a 4-3.  We're not lining up two DT's and if we do chances are it will be more of a slide down look from one of the ends and Campbell will put his hand on the ground.

We need a rotation of approx 8 DL...we have that.  Whether we desire to have better talent or not we have to go w/ what we currently have available so no amount of bitching about Kendall moving is going to change that.

And one would think Prince might...just might have a bit more of a clue of who should play where or who needs to play where or what we have for depth or whatever than a few internet posters who might catch a few open practices and a spring game.

thanks.

Right.  Who else would have a 260 lb TE playing QB?

If ku did then maybe you could beat Toledo and make a bowl game.  I don't know...it's a possiblity.

Maybe a .500 record in Big 12 play or something?

The team that had the first pick in the NFL draft for one.  Freeman is a QB and there isn't a coach in America with a passing system that wouldn't play him there.  The Meier kid on the other hand put him at USC or Notre Dame and he's be a 6th string safety in a matter of days.
