You can't be racist and like basketball.
I'm going to see if I could go to the Pitch Music thing instead.

Not sure how I'd make that fly, but I'm going to try.

it's only $5 for all 27 bands.  that's all she should need to hear.

First of all, let me start by saying i hate all of you.

Leyton - if you haven't listened to a majority of a bands work i would not pass judgement on a singular sound. but if you have listened to everything i don't know how you couldn't see that modest mouse has been one of the most changing and unique sounding bands i have ever listened to. I completely agree about the last two albums. I havn't even listened to the new one, because i don't want to ruin any more of their music for me.

WorldWideBalla21- you should not be allowed to ever comment on any music ever.

ew2x4 - i don't know about now, but when i saw them in 2000 they put up one hell of a show. they were even comparable to their openers, !!!.

Rusty - it makes sense that you don't like modest mouse

Kilgore - I hope to god they play some of the old stuff for your sake.

I am a little bit biased when it comes to modest mouse. They, along with 764-Hero, Built to Spill, and The Appleseed Cast were what started me on my downward spiral into good music.

yes... you get the point now. no more music talk from the freshman at kapaun.

My date is a boy...he kind of got suckered into buying 2 MM tickets, and then he kind of suckered me into buying a ticket.  My wife would be an easy sell on the Pitch thing.

I'm a Junior. And yes you are right I don't know anything about music, only stoner music hence the avatar.
Modest mouse just isn't really my taste but I don't hate em. I don't mind any band as long as they don't do pussy/emo punk.  :banghead:

Meh, don't think I can make it happen...and I really, really don't want to spend $20 to see a band I don't like.

Christ. I thought you said you don't mind BOH. Go see them and head to the Pitch thing. Everyone wins including Kilgore who won't have to hear Fussty bitch about how MM sucks but doesn't know a reference to one of their major radio hits (that wasn't that great a song )

Meh.  If the vast majority of the band's concert-going fans don't care that Modest Mouse has produced more than their last two albums, I shouldn't have to know that they've produced anything more interesting than the monotonous crap that I hear on the radio from them.

It's all about the money.  I'd love to go for free.

I recognized the song when I googled "Breathes Salty"  ('Cla' :chainsaw:)

No,  I just quietly listen and smile affectionately at the people singing around me.  It's cool to mouth the lyrics and maybe give a whimpering rendition of your own, but if you're at full volume, I'm not diggin' it.

Man, I hate Modest Mouse.  One sound...how many songs?  About as creative and musically diverse as Nickelback.  Float On was great, for a month or two, but I started getting pissed off when every other song of theirs that I heard had the same chord progressions.

Leyton almost described the concert to a T.

The opened with "Bury Me With It", did a f*cking awesome job, and I thought, "damn, they might convert me".  Then they played Float On.  Fifteen goddam times in a row.  They played Float On with a banjo, slow Float On, Float On with a cello, Float On with an extended solo, Float On with an accordian, "hard rock" Float On, Float On with a trumpet, then did an encore with an extended version of Float On.

I really don't understand how they sold so many tickets...they aren't "edgy" enough any more to bring out the music purists, but they still seem too rough around the edges to appeal to the Dragon Shirt crowd.

Side Note:  I swear I saw BMW.  He was wearing Khaki shorts, no shirt, and some kind of shark tooth necklace.  Him and his boyz took about 30 pictures during the encore (in the middle of the crowd) (LOL).

I can almost verify that I saw Rusty.

I, on the other hand, thought the show was pretty decent and didn't mind the new stuff at all.  :twobirds:

Rusty: the hipster's anti-hipster.

If you thought the 10+ minute version of "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes" or "Out of Gas" sounded anything like Float On, I'm not sure I can ever trust your judgment on music again outside a moderate recommendation of The Sheds. Leyton already hung himself in effigy comparing Modest Mouse with the likes of Nickelback, even in jest, but your review is pathetic and trite.

My recommendation is this: get over yourself and try to enjoy a show ya hipster &@#%!

according to SPC, the sound check took a while because they had to "de-tune" their guitars....

and yes rusty...you suck at life.  The extended versions of Tiny cities made of Ashes and during the encore, Spitting Venom were amazing.

I'd like to hear some of your music, Rusty, since apparently you can make much better music.  I'd be truly interested to see how you get around the 'same progressions in every song' motif, that you complain about.  Start by making seven albums, then I'll listen to the last two and make my judgements solely on those albums.

LMK.

I wore khaki shorts, too, FWIW.

I'll admit to being a tad dramatic, but you have to admit that I was right, for the most part.  Out of Gas uses the same basic chord progression as Float On...just slowed down.  Sorry I lost your musical trust.  :-[

Other thoughts:  City Market was an awesome venue, IMO...MM had the worst sound crew in history...Where does everyone go after the concert?  You'd think the bars would be packed.  We went straight to Harry's (:lick:) and got a table in no time.
