It's bound to happen, ala Johnny Damon, Carlos Beltran, Jermaine Dye.
So which one of this year's good players will get traded away because we can't afford a good player.
I say Billy Butler in 2 years.

I'd sure hope not, I love that guy. I watched him play for the Wranglers a couple times.

The Royals won't be trading anyone of value anytime soon. we're developing solid pitchers in the minors (Hochaver, Buckner, Wright, Lumsden) and have a few position players who could step in and help us or be valuable trade bait (Brazell, Huber). If we did make a trade for one of our "good" players, I'd say its DDJ. He's cheap and a solid day to day player, plus we could replace him with a power hitting corner outfielder and put Gathright in center where he belongs.

I wouldn't mind trading DeJesus away, but what on earth would a team give up for him?

He's an average hitter, average defender and average runner.

If the Royals can replace him fairly easily, then no one is going to give up much.

DDJ is dirt cheap. He's only making a couple mil a year and is a great defensive of. He's hitting .290 for his career, doesn't strike out a ton, and is a very solid daily player. He's actually having a better season than KC savior, Mark Teahen.

I hope we move one of our of (be it DDJ or Teahen) for a starter and sign either Willy Mo, Eric Byrnes, or even Jermaine Dye( :hope: ) and a 1b in free agency.

he's better than an average defender.

Look at American League CFs that have significant playing time.

DeJesus is 5 out of 10 in fielding%, 7 of 10 in range, 7 of 10 in zone rating and 7 of 10 in Assists (despite being 2nd in innings!).

Not sure how that's above average.

He doesn't run down balls that fat asses can't get to.  That's why his range rating is in the crapper.
