Sounds like Gabbert is headed toward getting a fifth star. That would give NU two in this class, with rumors circulating that we'll have a couple more commitments the next week or so.

Freeman's a loser...so is Harrison Beck, and we're better off without them.

It's funny though, by taking Freeman off our hands, you actually did us a favor. We ended up with Keller, Lee, etc. Then we land Gabbert, the best high school QB to come out in years....so now we're stocked at the position for years, and you guys have to rely on Soul-Glo.

So on behalf of Husker Nation, I'd like to formally thank you for recruiting Freeman.  :D

Gotta love Husker fans coming to the lowly KSU boards looking for justification.

Yes Huskers Gabbert is the next coming of Peyton Manning. Pat youselves on the back. You landed a future NCAA and NFL hall of famer.  :jerkoff:

Ask Texas how big of a loser JF is. Also, going 4-4 true freshman season and leading his team to a bowl game. I'll take it.

Also, you're showing this:  :D when you're actually feeling like this:  :crybaby:

Your serious, and by the way no matter how stocked you are at QB, 1 can play at a time.

L.O.L.  He's not even the best QB in his class.  Ever heard of a guy named Pryor?

Rivals has him at #2, and ESPN has him #1.

Quote
Blaine Gabbert, 6-4, 226, Ballwin (Mo.) Parkway West

Crabtree: We're going to have to have some serious discussions as to whether or not Gabbert is a five-star quarterback. We all knew he had cannon for an arm, but watching him rifle balls all over the field against the best of the best in the nation is pretty amazing. When talking about who's done the best so far, Gabbert would definitely have to be under consideration with a few others.

Shurburtt: Gabbert has a bazooka for an arm and is a big-time athlete. He has prototypical NFL size and his footwork has been good during the first two days. He's a guy that once he develops will thrive in a pro-style offense like they have at Nebraska. Many feel that he's been the class of the event through the first two days.

Quote
Ballwin (Mo.) Parkway West signal caller Blaine Gabbert put on an absolute show earlier today and had as good a 1st workout as anyone we can remember since we've been putting on the Elite 11 QB camp.

Simply put, Gabbert was a man among boys today and brings so much to the table. He had easily the strongest arm in the camp but what was so impressive was for having such a cannon, the future Corn Husker has a lightning quick release as well. Typically to generate arm strength, most high school quarterbacks really have to wind up and develop a long release but Gabbert is so strong, he's able to throw with a lot of heat while maintaining his mechanics.

Gabbert has great lower body strength and when he throws on balance and can rotate his hips in to the throw, he's absolutely money. At 6-4, 230 pounds, Gabbert also showed surprisingly good mobility and throws the ball on the run like he has been doing it how whole life.

"I was really impressed with today, it is really exciting being out here today. One thing I feel I can do better at is improve on my accuracy during practice", says Gabbert.

When asked what he was looking forward to the most while in California for the Elite 11, the quarterback responded, "I am looking forward to developing friendships with the rest of the guys."

Just to refresh the NU history since 2002...

2002 - Jamal Lord - "He's much better than Crouch and has a lot more gifts."  (7-7).
2003 - Jamal Lord - "He didn't have a good class around him last year, but he'll be much better this year.  He'll pass Ell Roberson with ease." (Led his team to the worst loss to Kansas State in school history.)
2004 - Joe Daily - "Callahan will turn him into a superstar.. you watch." (Left school.)
2005 - Zac Taylor - "This kid is going places.  He's going to get us a Big 12 Championship this year."  (Finished 2nd in the North division - was knocked out of the KSU game.)
2006 - Zac Taylor - "We'll be playing in a BCS bowl this year.  This kid has got it all."  Lost to Oklahoma State in an embarrassing game, couldn't hang with OU or USC.

Record against K-State during this time - 2-3

2002 - KSU 49-13
2003 - KSU 38-9
2004 - KSU 45-21
2005 - KSU 25-27
2006 - KSU 3-21

Totals KSU 160, NU 91

Average Score over 5 years KSU 32 - NU 19.

Average Margin of Victory when KSU wins:  44 - 14 (30 points +4 TD's)
Average Margin of Victory when NU wins.. 24-14 (10 points + 1TD + 1 FG)

The only winning QB during that time was Zac Taylor.   He was knocked out of the 2005 game and a last minute field goal saved the Huskers from embarrassment two years in a row.

Taylor was marginalized in the 2006 game completely, having less than stellar stats and since it was against a first year coach, Nebraska fans at the end of the year were very happy they met KSU at the low point of the season, and not at the end.

a coach who has yet to develop a QB that made it in the NFL.  He couldn't coach Joe Dailey. (not that he was nfl talent)  He couldn't get Zach there. (recently cut by an nfl team.) When Keller bombs he will be  0 for 3.  With other schoools knocking at the door and Callie's impending termination Gabbert will decommit.  Almost makes you feel bad for the 'skers.  Nah... Actually kinda funny!

Zac Taylor does not and never did have the physical abilities to play at the NFL level. Its interesting-who gets credit for developing Rich Gannon from a nobody to an NFL MVP? With the way Keller has progressed in the spring and summer learning this offense, he should move himself into the 1st round next year.

I hope he's really good!!!  That way a team that has actually won something in this century will come in a steal him away too.

Enjoy him while you have him!

Whether he did or not is really immaterial to the Huskers.  I remember distinctly, last year, that Taylor was going to lead the Sker's to  the Big 12 Championship and a BCS bowl.   There was even talk at the beginning of the year that NU was coming to Phoenix and a lot of sker's bought NC game tickets...

Then.. the roofed caved in.

Ah well, there's always next year in your quest to return to dominance.

BTW: What's the over/under that Keller gets injured again?

Not all Taylor's fault because he misfired badly on quite a few passes throughout the year. The biggest loss to Nebraska last year was Zac Bowman. If Bowman hadn't blown out his knee, Nebraska wins 2-3 more games and there's no question we win the Big 12. He would have shut down Adarius Bowman, Malcolm Kelly and Limas Sweed. I'm not sure his presence alone would have been enough to beat USC but the biggest factor in those three conference losses and the loss to USC was a single receiver that dominated our secondary.

Woohoo!  We have a winner for the "Delusional Husker of the Year" Award!  Congrats!

Let's see, where to start?

It's neato to play the victim, but Zack Bowman isn't the route to much victim success.  Why?  Well, his first year at Nubb he started just 5 games.  Get it?  You see he wasn't good enough to start until late in the year.  One guy (even with 5 stars given to him by journalism majors), who is sitting for the likes of Tierre Green and Cortney Grixby is NOT worth even a single win.  Get over it!

Despite the fact I just crushed your retarded argument, let's take it one step further.  Without the amazing (recruit) Zack Bowman, it wasn't Adarius Bowman that beat you idiots in Stillwater.  Hell, AB wasn't even the leading receiver that day (in either catches or yards), D'Jaun Woods was.  Perhaps your argument would be better if it was "if only Dick Butkus wasn't old and an Illinois grad we'd have won."  You see stopping the run would have helped quite a bit. Dantrell Savage had 117 yards, 2 TD's and 6.9 ypc average.  Keith Tosten had 8 carries for 8.5 ypc average and Bobby Reid added 8 carries for a 7.6 ypc average.  Of course the best place to look is Bill Schnellahan who divided up carries between Brandon Jackson, who was dominating, with a couple of guys who were sucking.  Great job of coaching as usual.

In the OU game it might have helped of "Woman Beater" Purify didn't fumble inside the 10 yard line.  Maybe you think Zack Bowman could have played QB?  He probably could have done as well as Zac Taylor did with his 3 interception performance.

Texas, would Bowman have held onto the ball at the end of the game?

USC...you are kidding obviously.

Better luck next time.

Actually Rich Gannon developed into a pretty outstanding QB in KC, but Marty Schottenheimer loved Elvis so much he handed Callie a gift.  I'd say Al Saunders had a lot more to do with Gannon's development than your boy Bill.
