RUMORS HAVE SWIRLED this summer about running back Leon Patton's status with the team, but Prince sounded confident that the 5-7 sophomore speedster would be a big part of K-State's plans.

"I anticipate Leon being in camp and being with us and doing well," he said. "Every player has a little different circumstance in the summer."

Patton's circumstance appears to involve academics. Prince said he was closely monitoring the Individual Education Plans of Patton and projected starter James Johnson, a senior.

"I think someone has to be the adult in the relationship and mandate that these players are ready for life after football, not just with those two players but with a lot of players on our roster," Prince said.
