The fans on phog are actually trying to argue that they usually bring a lot of fans to our stadium.  Does no one else remember how there were hardly any ku fans in the visitor's section 2 years ago?  I seem to remember their ticket office returning a ton of tickets a few weeks before the game.

How they can't sell out their allotment being on 90 miles away is laughable.

They had a decent amount of fans travel to Manhattan in 2003 when they thought Bill Whittemore was going to end the streak.  They didn't come close to selling out their allotment, and many of their cheap-ass fans stayed in the parking lot through halftime.  Most of them didn't stay around for post-game festivities.

In 2005, I was expecting quite a few more ku fans to show up.  They didn't come close to filling up the SE corner of the stadium.  By reading some of the posts in the thread linked above, it's obvious that 20 or so fans sitting in club level seats and CPAHawk sitting on the 50-yard line equal thousands of traveling ku fans.

They sent a whole bunch of tickets back to KSU in '05, and then called selling out what they kept "selling their allotment".

They didn't even go to a bowl last year so I'll understand if their numbers are down this fall.  ;)

The excuses are usually...

1. Other things to do (scheduled) on same date.
2. MU is their real rival.
3. Manhattan is a craphole.
4. KSU has bad fans.
5. Don't want my car vandalized...

But in the end it amounts to ku fans just not supporting their team.

I think they just get sick and tired of seeing their team kick only FGs.     :fatty:

Illinois State brought more people to our stadium than the Phags do.

No joke.

3. Manhattan is a @#%$hole.

That lame excuse just doesn't hold water.  Hell, they come from Lawrence.  Anything is an upgrade!

so are you saying that lawrence is only a "great" place because is so close to a big city?

sometimes people move away from the big city to get to a nice place. like manhattan.

If I recall, Leyton destroyed this topic a while back. Anyone that wants to participate in the monthly Lawrence vs. Manhattan deathmatch should do so here:

I think most people would prefer Lawrence over Manhattan.
The last time someone made that statement their justification for it was that more people lived in Lawrence than Manhattan.

I think most people would prefer Lawrence over Manhattan.

That's not a biased opinion.  Did you poll 1276 Lawrence residents to get that stat?
