at scout combine Steinkuhler went 5.12 in the 40.

But in Lincoln at the NU camp.....4.7..hmm.  So 4 tenths of a second in the 40?

Old NU method.

On 1620 AM here in NE the two talk show hosts were discussing how it is and was common knowledge that Steinkuhler's old man and Remington both heavily abused steroids in their era.  The calls into the show melting down made my week.

what! athlets in the early 80's and 70's used roids?  tell me it aint true.  the next thing your gonna tell me is that athletes are still tkaing them, in every sport.  That can't be true.  the funny thing is ksu fans think there players were not juicing just because they sucked.

as for steins 40 time.  lo9l at ksu fans talking bad about that when they have a o-line commit 50 poundsd lighter than baker running that same time.

hysterical

The melting down was half along these lines and half denial.  I probably liked this kind melting down the most because you could tell they used to be in the denial camp and just found a new sort of denial to hitch their pony to.   :shy:

When I was on the KSU track team, it was so obvious that the NU weight throwers were on Roids, we used to laugh our asses off about it.

No, it doesn't...good for you guys.  He looks great on film and he's obviously an athlete.  Not sure why corn are getting defensive...I thought it was interesting that a kid who runs a 5.12 for objective former NFL scouts shows up in Lincoln and magically cuts 4 tenths of a second off his 40 time in just a few months time.

I don't know. I do know that the times in Lincoln are often clocked faster than they actually are, so this is no big surprise. I think those are hand-timed, and perhaps the scout combine used electronic? Or maybe he had an off day? I don't really know, but I do know that reported times shouldn't really be trusted until these guys go to an official combine somewhere.

Baker is pretty quick for his size, as seen on film, so I really don't care.

I don't like complaining about grammar/spelling, but at least read it once before you hit the Post button...please?

Our fans get annoyed by this because in many cases it is simply sour grapes from teams we beat. Steroids are a widespread problem even at high schools now, and I think it would be naive to think other schools in the Big 12--including KSU--didn't/don't have anyone using them. Do you disagree?

I don't disagree at all.  My point was how half of the Nebraska faithful DID disagree and melted down and the other half used your same excuse and melted down.  The way I look at it two (or two thousand) wrongs don't make a right and using that as an excuse doesn't make it right.  Listening to the show every NU fan went on the defensive and melted down about how that was a lie or everyone does it.  The correct response would have been to say, "Yeah, they roided up.  They shouldn't have.  Their nuts are the size of peanuts now and they got a ring (or two, I don't know the years they played) out of the deal.  Congrats them."

I'm not excusing it. It's wrong. However, I do think this is one of those biblical who will throw the first stone type deals.

Steroids are an ongoing problem that you just try to police the best you can. From what I've heard Justin Tomerlin, a recent recruit of ours, was caught using them after he arrived and forced to quit. He was never the player we thought he was after stopping.

Honestly, when you see the adverse effects they can have I don't know why guys still try.

You mean, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?"  If so I agree.

EDIT:  Also, I believe that little fella Kevin kugler is without sin as far as steroids go and that is why he threw the high and tight one.

Parker...no sour grapes.  Steinkuhler's old man admitted to using them.  I'm not sure if Rimington did but there were a lot of steroid lookin' dudes on those teams in the early 80's.
