Almost the same size, but Woods is a hard worker in the weight room so he could possibly bulk up like Patton did.

They're both not the most agile players out there, but fast as &@#%.

Woods also has good vision (at least I think so with my low FBIQ, however, very high NCAAFB2007IQ).  Seems like he uses good angles and squirts through tight spaces.

    The very best.
can woods shed a tackle like Leon? Highly unlikely.

Seriously Prince, get that &@#%er playing again.  :frown:
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

He could if he got bigger.  Didn't really show it in his videos, he took pretty much everything to the house.

It's not about getting in the weightroom..it's genetics.  He doesn't and will never possess Leon's lower body power.  Leon runs through a lot of tackles on leg strength.

It's always a good day when your ftball analysis resonates with hatters.

Speaking of lower body...

Still love the picture.  :ksu:

But anyways back to the topic...

True.  Weight training can help though of course.  But you're right about Leon and his natural abilities, and combine that with working out, you got, well, Leon &@#%ing Patton.  Woods' dad is a personal trainer, so at least you know he'll be doing things right in the weight room.

Why is it two of the fastest kids to come from the KC area lately have problems?

I know Woods was far from qualifying going into his senior year and luckily he turned it around.  I think he also is a dad now.

Thomas wasn't even academically eligible to run track.  Yes, East is tougher than your average school but don't you need just a 2.0 or 2.5 to be eligible?  My son went there and I can't recall what the minimum GPA was.  As for Thomas' talents on the football field, he has none.  Think of a lesser Christian Ballard.  Thomas is an impressive athlete that will grab attention when he tests, but the kid is the antithesis of a football player.

I agree that Reed would suffice as our #2 back this year behind Johnson.  He wouldn't be as good as Patton but that is not realistic.  If he got around 6-8 touches per game, that sounds reasonable to me.

Wow, is Terrance put together really well, very muscular right now for track being his #1 sport. Great upside on that kid.

Woods is a very different runner than Patton.

Patton's shiftier, has a stronger lower body(like Hatter pointed out.)  He has a lower center of gravity (almost like Darren) and can use that strength to stay up and break tackles.

Justin's faster.  He's a type of runner that hits a hole at full speed, and if someone doesn't bring him down there, he's off to the races.  I wouldn't count on him getting a whole lot bigger like a lot of kids do when they get in the college weightroom, because his dad already has him working out more than anyone I've ever seen already, and he has two older brothers who are/have played scholarship level football elsewhere(junior college and division II I think, but not for sure.)  Not to mention too much extra weight would lag down what I think is his greatest asset, raw speed.

Apparently his youngest brother is supposed to be the freak athlete of the family, which coming from a family that already produces amazing athletes, is pretty stunning.

Not even Justin is sure he's going to stay at RB.  That's where he wants to start, but he may get moved to wideout or corner.  I'd guess corner is more likely due to his receiving skills not being the greatest, and his speed/body type would make for a damn good cornerback.

Like most D-1 football players, his dream is to play in the league.  He'd rather play at RB, but he'll play whatever position he needs to get there.  I personally think his best shot is at corner.

Justin Woods may be even better than Leon Patton.  He is faster than Leon, and despite what some are saying, I really think he may have as much lower body strength as Leon does.  I have never seen him play besides today's practice, so it will be interesting to see if he turns out as well as I think he can.

Regarding Terrance Thomas: I played alongside him at Shawnee Mission East.  He has always had legal/academic/family/injury issues, but he is academically qualified for this upcoming football season, and will start practice Monday.  His potential is unlimited.  I can't even begin to tell you how fast he is.  As a SOPHPMORE coming off a torn ACL, he won state in the 100 with a 10.44.  He is very athletic, and has made big contributions on the bball team.  He is also about the nicest kid you will ever meet.  His only downside is he is a little bit timid, injury prone, and has had some off the field type issues.  He is very well coached at SM East and it will be interesting to see how he will contribute to his team this year.

EMAW!
