When you say "better", what did he mean exactly?

    DOD Take Two
I have always been on the Freeman bandwagon, but I think it is still premature to compare him to VY. Needs an awesome year for that. Such as going 2-0 versus VY ala matter...

    The very best.
He loves Freeman. I heard the bit too. Sounded like he didn't like the idea of playing Auburn.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

We'll decide if we love it or not based on the result. A win or a close loss and it's GREAT!

VY was a scrambling qb and had to learn how to throw. He still has a hitch.

Freeman = pro dropback passer.

No contest.

Vy would beat Freeman in a footrace.

But Freeman can air it out better.

Freeman CAN run. Tough to bring down.

Did he mean that Freeman is ahead of Vince Young when he was a freshman?

    The "other" KSU
Ive noticed this a lot with the main streem media, they will ride your sack just enough to take all the credit in being the "one"  who knew it all along. But beware, if Josh has another ku game, he will get thrown under the bus, bigger than $hit. I hate Mel Kiper, he is a KSU hater if history tells us anything.

I don't understad how you can even compare Josh and VY. I always thought everyone considered him like Jamarcus Russell. Josh isn't a dual threat QB. Granted, he can run when he needs to, but defenses aren't thinking run first when Josh has the ball and he's rolling right..

One difference I've taken from watching the two (and the jury is still out on Freeman) is that VY is a winner. Period. Just like Bishop was a winner, VY (even more so) had that uncanny ability to take over a game.
Freeman hasn't shown consistently yet (OSU and UT games) that he can show up in the big stage (Rutgers and yes, ku was a big game in terms of bowl placement).
Time will tell....
Freeman does have better pro characteristics at this point in time...VY is just a stud all around.

VY had a few horrible games early in his career.  The one that comes to mind is that bowl game vs. Washington State at the end of his sophomore year.

Absolutely agree.  Freeman and Young are apples and oranges.  Two totally different QB's.  It's be more apt to compare Freeman to a Quinn, Russell, or even a Cutler.  Freeman's a pocket passer (for the most part), Young just makes plays.  I still think Young will only be an average NFL QB (bigger version of Vick without the arm strength), though he was certainly an unreal college player.

My guess is that he meant "at this point in his development."  Don't forget that our freshman QB took over the OSU game late, dominated CU and accounted for 4 tds vs UT.  VY didn't do that his rs freshman year.  Now if JF can continue to develop and we are contenders for a national title, then it will be complete as Mel knew all along. ;)

I liked Kiper's comment just because it riled phog.net up something terrible. lol God they get so bent out of shape. Freeman even has his own thread over there. (envy)

But Vince Young has WAY more speed than Freeman does..and we're still waiting to see Freeman throw some nice fade routes into the corner of the endzone. (unless I'm forgetting some throws)...

REALLY??? Well, that makes things a little bit better then doesn't it! I just remember when VY destroyed the vaunted USC defense, and it was seemingly effortless. If JF can get to that point, we are money... that is if we run an offense out of the shotgun a little bit more.
