    "Tacky" -Kietz
Just got home from Wichita Catbackers.  Pretty routine, except RP had a little to get off his chest.

First couple minutes were "nice to be in Wichita, great support, etc..."

Then he stated he wanted to thank one supporter in specific: "This household has donated over a million dollars... Jeffrey Martin, stand up!"

This was stated after RP watched Jeff leave an hour + earlier.

RP did a fake scan of the crowd and stated that Jeffrey must not have wanted to stay for "when I got on the mic."

RP went on to state how lucky Wichita was to have Jeff and his "informed, fair, balanced reporting which is unprecedented in the state."

Noted how Jeff is known for producing famous headlines like "Dewey Beats Truman."

Stated how appreciative he is of Jeff's comments, and due to those, they're really gonna start focusing on recruiting Kansas.  "It takes an east-coast media guy in a Boston Red Sox hat to help us know how to recruit."

I thought it was over until a non-sequiter a few minutes later where he compared something to the "journalistic integrity" Jeff's known for.

Again, I thought he was moving on until he got to recruiting where he stated how they're now blessed with the genius advice of recruiting in-state, and he has Brian Butler and Jeffrey Martin to thank for that wisdom.  He implored the crowd "... and if any of you know any great local recruits, you can e-mail me."

He pointed out Frank Martin and stated something to the effect of "you get the KC Star, I get the Wichita Eagle" apparently stating their respective arch-enemies.

Most of the audience laughed when it seemed like it was time to laugh, but I'm not sure how many of them got the jokes.

It was very bizarre.

Frank Martin got a standing O.

wow........wow.  RP does not disappoint.  I guess that must've rustled his britches to repeatedly bring it up.  Nothing like a good old fashioned cheap shot or five.

Am I missing something, or wasn't the only "negative" article printed the notebook a couple weeks ago focusing on BButler and his comments regarding Kansas kids?

Not that we were in the hunt for the Brown Bros anyway, but we can kiss the .001% chance goodbye.

Did someone record that?

I'd like to hear those comments.

I think Jeff has been extremely fair, and maybe Prince is taking good natured shots at him, but at the same time you gotta wonder.

I think all this did was show that Jeff is doing his job.. and well.

Tremendous effort by Trim. If Suge hangs me out a window, I'll alert the Eagle that you could be my replacement should anything happen.

Like the rest of you, I'm stunned. ... flattered. ... amused. ... but mostly embarrassed for the man.

I've said my piece. (or is it peace? I never know in that case)

This all sounds rather juvenile, if true.  Taking pot shots at an absent party is a real dick move.

Then again, why would J-Mart have left early, if there were going to be coaches speaking later?

Just baffling all around.

I think Prince should just be pissed at Butler, not Martin.  Sounds like a case of "Don't shoot the messenger".

I had J-Mart's pen that I borrowed from him when he left just in case and some Big Brothers Big Sisters flyer ready to write down one or two silly quotes that I figured RP would drop.  He started up with the whole "million dollar donor thing" and from then on, I could barely keep up.

I was sitting there thinking "why didn't I bring my iPod with the recording thingy on it.  Oh yeah, because why would I think RP was gonna bust out a Jay Leno style monologue on J-Mart?"

That's beyond weird.  Is this real?

LMAO either way.

I believe there's other people posting the story on Wabash.  I was a few beers in so they may have even better notes than I did.

Brian Butler?  Brian Butler.   Really.

So, can we stop with all the Arthur/Bryce/Harper threads now?

I'm glad he has confidence --though I never once questioned that he did --but beings that the Browns were offended about Delarue, wouldn't you think RP wouldn't be cautious about any public negativity towards Butler, who I'm guessing the Browns may have drawn close to in the past several months/years?

Despite what the Powertards want to think, Prince probably won't be at K-State long.  He'll either perform well enough to get an NFL job, or he'll suck it up and get fired.  So the odds are about even.

Edit:  I'd be ok with him staying though, as long as he neared Gary Barnett-esque success levels.

    I'm with Coco.
This almost seems like one of those staged feuds. Jmart, give us the dish. If you can't let the cat out of the bag this early, just say something about Cole Aldrich's brand new TV from ku boosters needing a pair of "Bunny Ears."

And where the hell are the bunny ear icons???

Maybe its just me but Prince's sh*t is wearing thin quickly.  The guy just seems to be an egotistical prick.  I'm going with JMart on this one, I think he's been right more often than Prince during their tenures.

JMart:  How about next time you go to a presser deck yourself out in purple from head to toe and see if the fat sweaty guy says anything at that point.

Let me get this straight.

Prince popped off to a few hundred supporters at what was basically a private gathering.....and he's "the bad guy" for mentioning some things in THAT setting about a piece where someone "representing" some kids was given free reign and a pulpit to spout off a bunch of uncontested lies about Prince, his staff, and his program?

C'mon now.  I like J-Mart too but there is no need to kiss his ass just because Prince voiced some displeasure at a private gathering.  Jeff's a big boy and he can take care of himself.  Whether some choose to accept it or not he gave some Brian Butler guy(who is that?) a public forum to do a hatchet job.  Some might say he's getting his comeuppance.
